  • *Slide 1: A child&apos;s mind is the most impressionable object in life and music is the magic key to unlocking it. <br />
  • *Slide 2: Music contributes to cognitive thinking as well as gains spatial and mathematical capacities. <br />
  • *Slide 3: The Big Idea: If lower income schools and parents do not realize the importance of their children&apos;s music education, music programs in the school system will completely diminish. <br />
  • *Slide 4: What&apos;s in it for your audience? Explain why your topic is important or worth discussing. This is worth discussing because the neurological effects that music has a child&apos;s mind ranges from math, cognitive thinking, emotional response to auditory and visual systems. The fact that school districts do not take this into consideration when cutting music education budgets,especially in lower income communities, means nothing but holding back a generation of young minds. <br />
  •   *Slide 5: Why should your audience listen to you? It is extremely important that parents,city officials and teachers figure out what the young minds of today are missing out on by being denied a music education at a young age.  <br />
  • *Slide 6: Call to Adventure: Imagine children that are anti social which can lead to larger problems like depression, loneliness and a over all stressful life. Well imagine children that can communicate on an cognitive level with emotion and intelligence. <br />
  • *Slide 7: Preview the three main points that will support your big idea: 1) Musically educated children have a cognitive advantage over non educated children. 2) Teaches self confidence and smart decision making skills 3) Creates an intelligent creative process which is what our future needs. <br />
  •    *Slide 8: Introduce and set up supporting point one: Recognizing musically educated children have a cognitive advantage over non music educated children. <br />
  • * Slide 9: Musically educated children can focus more on education in general due their high self confidence built by being proficient in an already difficult concept.  <br />
  • * Slide 10: Story about friends of mine that were fortunate to have music education in the public school system had a much easier time in relationships(friends) and education. <br />
  • * Slide 11: Supporting Point Two: Teaches self confidence, motivation and smart decision making skills <br />
  • * Slide 12: Young students feel a sense of accomplishment when they become proficient with a musical instrument (PBS.org) which tends to motivate a student to learn other subjects and also are able to collaborate with large groups of people. <br />
  • * Slide 13: Story about the success story of fellow peers. They were able to succeed much easier in harder subjects like math and english.  <br />
  • *Slide 14: Supporting Point Three: Creates an intelligent creative process which is what our future needs. <br />

  • *Slide 17: Call to Action: Show at least three individuals of each party (parents,teachers and city officials) facts about music&apos;s connection to historical events which have come to define multiple eras. <br />
