O’Brien’s Life Facts<br />Born October 1st, 1946<br />Graduated from Macalester College in 1968<br />Drafted into Vietnam War and served 1969-1970<br />Enrolled in Harvard but left to pursue newspaper columnist position. However his fiction work became his focal point.<br />Winner of many prestigious writing awards such as: National Book Award for Fiction, Best Novel of the year – Time Magazine, France’s Prix du MeilleurLivreEtrangerand more. <br />

We have been learning about tone in this class and I am now just realizing the importance of it.<br />Just by watching you can tell the passion for which the author has for his stories. <br />

  • 7. In Closing…<br />I was inspired to make this short presentation as my response to this week’s blog post because I was inspired by this author. This post is just so my classmates can learn more about O’Brien and his early life before and after Vietnam. I hope you enjoyed the included photos and video clips. I know that “The Things They Carried” was inspiring to me and such a great work of art. <br />
