  10. 11. He was always at high risk for skin cancer because he had large number of moles and a family history of melanoma. Photo Credit: Hendrikspeck
  11. 12. He noticed a lesion on his skin one morning. It was abnormal and very discolored, but he thought it would eventually go away. After a couple of months, he finally went to the doctor for a biopsy.
  12. 13. Manuel could have taken more skin self-exams and done a better job tracking the moles on his skin. He could have also avoided too many hours of sun exposure without sunscreen or hat.
  13. 14. Photo Credit: Hendrikspeck Had Manuel been more aware of his risk factors and increased preventative measures, He would have been around to share his vision of how to combat math illiteracy in schools K-12.
