  2. 2. Today’s Agenda:How do Texas educators contribute tothe Long-Range Plan for Technology?What is STaR Chart data?Where does our campus rank?How can we reach our TARGET as acampus?
  3. 3. Long-Range for Technology 2006-2020The Texas Education Code, Section 32.001, requiresthe State Board of Education to develop a long-rangeplan for technology. Texas led the nation with the firstLong-Range for Technology, 1988-2000 adopted bythe Board In November 1988.
  4. 4. Our ContributionThe goal in teaching and learning must be toempower young citizens to live and learn in acontinuously changing 21st Centuryenvironment and to enable this citizenry toeffectively interact in a global marketplace.
  5. 5. SchoolTechnology STaR for and Readiness A Teacher Tool Planning and Self- Assessing aligned with the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.
  6. 6. Star CHART DataAll campuses are required to submit STaRCHART Data to measure yearly progress. KEY AREAS to be scored:  The stages of progress are: I. Teaching and Learning  Early Tech, Developing Tech, Advanced Tech, and Target Tech II. Educator Preparation  Texas’ highest score according to III. Administration and 2009-2010 data was in the Key Area 1: Educator Preparation, scoring a Support 68.7% (Developing Tech) IV. Infrastructure  No Key Area has met the Target Tech ranking  The majority of Texas schools are still in the developing stage or have reached a plateau at the advanced level.

How Can We Hit the TARGET? Incorporate the use of our computer labs as much as possible when planning lessons. Seek help from our on-campus technology support staff as well as our district tech support staff. Visit techappsnetwork_org.htm to get resources to implement the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in the K-12 classroom.
