  • 1. TIMES OF SERVICES SUNDAY: 9:30 A.M. BIBLE CLASS 10:30 A.M. WORSHIP WEDNESDAY: 7 P.M. BIBLE CLASS Welcome to the Haynes Street church of Christ
  • 2. God’s Special People How does it make you feel when you receive a compliment? Look at how God describes us in I Peter 2:9-10. “Chosen generation”, “royal priesthood”, “holy nation” and “special people.” The doctrine of election (I Peter 1:1-2). Remember when you were on the winning side of a pick-up basketball or baseball game? As a Christian, we are on the winning team and God is our captain.
  • 3. God’s Special People Elect: Foreknowledge of God the Father  God’s election is based on foreknowledge.  II Tim. 1:9: Grace is God’s unearned favor.  Romans 8:28-30: God has known about us since before time began. Elect: Sanctification of the Spirit  Sanctification: To be set apart for a holy use.  I Peter 1:22-25; John 17:16-19; II Thess. 2:13; II Tim. 2:20-21, 3:14-17; II Peter 1:20-21.  Studying Scripture makes a Christian proficient.
  • 4. God’s Special People Elect: Obedience, Sprinkling of Jesus’ blood  We are not chosen to stand around idly. We are chosen to work and obey.  Eph. 2:4-10; Rom. 6:15-19, 12:2; I Pet. 1:14; Matt. 26:28, 25:14-30; Luke 17:10. Elect: Pilgrims and Sojourners  Live in the world, but not of the world (John 17:15- 16; I Peter 2:11-12).  Citizenship is in heaven (Phil. 3:19-20).  Keep our eyes focused on heaven (Col. 3:1-2).

God’s Plan of Salvation Hear (Romans 1:16; 10:14, 17) Believe (John 8:24; Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6) Repent (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30) Confess (Romans 10:9-10; Matthew 10:32-33) Be baptized (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Mark 16:16) Live faithfully (Revelation 2:10; Matthew 6:33; Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 15:58)
  • 6.
