Harris Medical Resources' UV Therapy System consists of:
1. A UV light source that comes in different model
casings for multiple or single patient use.
2. Light guides for optimum UV light transmission
(some models include mouthpieces).
3. Light meter to calibrate the intensity of the light
emanating from the device.
4. Spare bulb for replacement.
5. Carrying case.
Some models include mouthpieces to hold the light guides in place within the patient's mouth. During trial tests, however, most patients have opted to place the light guides in their mouths and hold them with their lips.
Both of these methods of delivery require that the light guides be sterilized after each patient uses them. This can be effectively achieved by wiping the tips of the light guides with alcohol, followed by hydrogen peroxide and finally, water. Newer models will have an opening through which the light guides will be inserted for disinfection.

Operating the machine pt. 1
Once the light guides are in the patient's mouth turn on the machine. It will take one minute for it to warm up to its optimal level. Treatment time will vary according to the disease being treated and may be adjusted at the physician's discretion.
Warning! Do not look into a lit light guide or an open casing since it may damage the eyes!

Operating the machine pt. 2
As illustrated in the graphic below, make sure the tips of the light guides rest directly under the tongue, about 1 to 2 millimeters away from the skin. The thin membrane under the tongue will allow for the penetration of the UV light into the tissue and consequently into the bloodstream.
Also, make sure that the light guide tip is free of fingerprints or skin oils, since that will stop some of the UV light. The UVC frequency of the ultraviolet spectrum can be very easily blocked.

Calibrating the machine
For optimum performance, the UV Irradiation Device must be kept calibrated once a week. To do this, press light guide tip against the UVC meter's sensor (the round silver disc located on the top of the meter).
On the meter's screen a number should appear. It should be between 700 and 1,400 uW/cm2. If it reads less than a thousand the light guide must be adjusted to receive light from another spot along the bulb.

Adjusting bulbs
To do this:
a) Turn off machine.
b) Remove screws found on the bottom of the
machine (1) and then the two found just below (2).
That will open the machine and release the sliding
light guide holder
The spots where the light guides touch the bulb may become dark and cloudy after some time and that may contribute to the output decrease.
c) Slide light guide bar to a new position so that
the light guide tips rest against a new clear spot
along the bulb. This should increase energy output.
d) Hold in place and replace screws to lock in
desired position.
e) Close the machine.
f) Test output again.

Replacing bulbs
If energy output is still below necessary
levels you must change the bulb.
BULB REPLACEMENT:
Turn off and unplug the machine. Remove
screws. Open casing and replace bulb.
Secure the bulb onto the lamp holders by
twisting it into place.
Do not touch the glass part of the bulb with
your hands as oils from your fingertips may
affect bulb surface and performance.
Replace cover and screw back in place.
Plug into electrical outlet and turn on. After
1 minute measure again using the UV meter.

Treatment information
You are now ready to begin treatment.
*For children under 20 lbs. treat for 5 minutes.
*For children under 50 lbs. treat for 15 minutes.
*For children and adults between 50 and 100 lbs.
or patients weakened by disease, treat for 30 minutes.
*For all patients over 100 lbs. treat for an hour.
For advanced Hepatitis C, HIV and AIDS cases the treatment time can be increased to 2
one-hour sessions with a 15 minute break in between (at the physician’s discretion).
Such an increase must be noted in the patient’s log.
Side Effects:
There have been no documented or confirmed serious side effects of UVC treatments of this kind
in the human body.
Normal side effects of the treatment might be due to the drainage of bacteria and toxins from the
body and may include increased phlegm, pimples, mild stomach irritation or diarrhea. Please note
