Std brochure revised june 2012

  1. 1. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) AssignmentStatistics show that most students dont understand STDs or how to prevent their spread. To help address this, you will research andproduce a brochure about STDs which should be informative and interesting. Your target readers are other teenagers. Each studentshould work on a singleletter size brochure (double sided). You should be creative in developing the brochures and usecomputer graphics programs to make them. The brochures should be brief and easy to read but also informational. They should cover: 1. An introduction/attention grabber to STDs for the teenage audience 2. A brief description of the4most common STDs ?(This must include Chlamydia, Herpes, HPV(genital warts), HIV, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Pubic lice or Trichomoniasis) 3. What are the signs and symptoms of each STD? 4. How is each STD treated? (Is it curable?) 5. What are the long term health problems if left untreated for each STD? 6. How is each of them transmitted 7. Give a detailed list of prevention tips? (At least eight) 8. Interesting facts, statistics, or use of charts etc..You will be given 3 Wellness periods to research and create your brochure. After the brochures are complete, each studentwillpresent the finished product to the class. We might consider printing extra copies ofthe best brochures to distribute to other classes in the school.REMEMBER:Your target readers are other teenagersThe following wiki pages with sources are recommended:
