  • 1. Salem Witch Trials
  • 2. Analyze Learners • The students are in the 7th grade. The students are 11 boys and 9 girls. There are 70% Caucasian and 30% African American.
  • 3. Main Objective • Students will be knowledgeable in Puritanism and the events of the Salem Witch Trials by the end of the week with 85% accuracy. This will be judged by a small quiz at the end of the week.
  • 4. Day one: What is Puritanism? • Ask students what they already know about Puritanism • Give a brief lesson on beliefs of Puritans and why they came to the New World

  • 7. Day four • Write a short paper on what you think the cause of all of the “witch craft” was. Was it just good acting or something else?
  • 8. Day 5 • Short assessment to see if the students have learned the material on Puritans and the witch trials.
  • 9. Use of Technology • Computer, TV (hook up to computer to watch documentary) • Other: Notebooks, paper, book The Crucible
