  2. What is School Report ?
    • 11 – 14 year olds make their own multimedia news at school to a real deadline for real audiences
    • Newsday coverage throughout the day on TV, Radio and Online, locally, regionally and nationally
    • The School Report website, www.bbc.co.uk /schoolreport , is a continually updated resource for teachers working on the project, and the main broadcast platform for the students’ work.
    • Strong demand for School Report and rapid growth – over 600 signed up so far for this year

  4. Why does the BBC do School Report ?
    • To support the BBC’s public purpose under the Charter of “sustaining citizenship and civil society”.
    • To communicate public service journalism values as young people are all creating content themselves
    • To give a voice to 11 – 14 year olds not often heard
    • To give audiences chance to see and hear stories from a different perspective

    • Work with partners to deliver education and technology support
    • 3-way fusion of skills and knowledge help develop new skills :

  7. TDA and School Report
    • Pilot project in 2007/08 with 3 teacher training institutions, expanding in 2008/09 to 8
    • Aims to use news production as a way of raising learning outcomes for trainee and existing teachers in the use of ICT
    • Enables increasing numbers of schools to join School Report by developing skills in teachers
    • Aim to encourage innovation and new ways of working
