Slide 4: It’s the Learning, Stupid!
Slide 5: Is “Mobile Learning” redundant? ‣ Mobile Learning has tended to imply usage of a particular “device” ‣ Much energy has been expended on either the creation of new devices or discussion about what devices are appropriate. ‣ The arrival of ultra low cost laptops has been greeted with enthusiasm bordering on euphoria as if this is the key to 1:1 access and this will be the silver bullet ‣ There seems to be less interest in what learners are already doing and using ‣ Should we not focus on how to embrace these advances?

Slide 13: Pause for thought ‣ There are powerful devices already in the hands of many learners ‣ Learners are not all going to have the same device ‣ Any device used now will be redundant in 3 years or less ‣ Digital inclusion is great but how does it work in practice? ‣ What does this mean for learning? ‣ What does this mean for ownership of learning? ‣ Is the learning mobile or just the device?
Slide 14: Cheap devices = better learning? ‣ Low cost devices are focusing on ability to provide access to the Internet ‣ Is this enough? ‣ Has the efficacy of VLE’s and Learning Platforms been proven?
