2. Brief
Outline
• The film is about a two boys who are the best of friends. The
story takes a twist when the 9/11 attack takes place as now
the Caucasian boys loyalty to his Asian friend is put on the
line. As he has to make the decision of either hanging around
with the Asian boys or being loyal to his race and sticking with
his Caucasian friends.
3. How our film follows
Todorovs narrative
theory
• Our film follows the Todorov narrative theory as it
goes threw all the stages that are explained through
the narrative theory.
o State of equilibrium – Michael is happy with his group of friends.
o Disruption of the equilibrium – 9/11 attacks take place.
o Recognition that their has been a disruption – Michael is asked who his
loyalty lies with.
o Attempt to repair the disruption – Michael must choose who he will stay
with.
o Reinstatement of the equilibrium – Michael realises that he is better off
with the Asian as they weren't the people who caused the attacks.
4. Binary
Opposition
• In our movie binary opposition is represented through
both of our characters. How it is represented through our
main character Michael is that he is from a tolerant
society so he does not have any problem mixing in with
people from different races.
• Whereas the Caucasian group represent a group of
people from a intolerant society, this means that they do
have problems hanging around with people from
different races, or blaming a whole race of people for
someone else is mistakes.

7. How our film
differs
• The reason why our film is different from
other films is because it deals with the 9/11
issue in a different way as it shows the impact
it might have had on young people like our 2
main characters Zain and Michael
