  3. 3. Why Tonosafe? Tonosafe eliminates; • The need to disinfect/sterilise prisms • The need to check for prism damage • The need to monitor prism age • The risk of cross-infection or potential damage to a Patients eye Tonometer Applanation Prisms

How does it work? • Everything you need is supplied in one pack • Supplied in trays of 20 prisms (and one prism holder) • Tonosafe easily fits into the tonometer (hand- held, e.g. Perkins, or Goldmann) • Use on a patient then disposed of - Once tray of 20 prisms has been used, then holder is also disposed of Tonometer Applanation Prisms
  5. 5. How does it work? Tonometer Applanation Prisms • Peel back the lid along the perforation to expose the holder • Remove the holder from the cavity • Peel back lid covering one of the prisms and use holder (B) to remove the prism (A) by placing it over the exposed end of the prism

Tonometer Applanation Prisms • There is an indexing key (C) moulded into the prism, which should align with one of the slots in the holder (D) • Check the location key is pushed fully home in the slot in the holder • Insert the holder and prism assembly into the tonometer • Tonosafe is ready for use

Tonometer Applanation Prisms • When the tonometry is complete, remove Tonosafe from the tonometer and remove the disposable prism from the holder (by pushing off from the flange) • Keep the holder stored in the cavity of the blister (E) and discard the disposable prism (F).
