  • Hi My name is Abdul, I work for the GP2GP team is based in Leeds. Please raise your hand if you work in a practice that uses GP2GP.
  • The GP2GP is a national project which currently covers 62% of the entire country, when GP2GP is rolled out to all compliant systems, we will have 90%+ national coverage
  • We conducted a national survey a few years ago asking all our users what they thought of GP2GP: This is just some of the key results from our Clinical users
  • The GP2GP process is very simple. Patient journey:- Patient arrives at ne practice to register – Practice registers the patient using a valid Smartcard, no smartcard no GP2GP – The record is located and sent to the new practice – who can then preview the record and integrate it
  • Unfortunately, we cannot transfer every record. GP2GP v2.2a will increase the file size that can be transferred from 5mb & 99 attachments to unlimited file size and unlimited number of attachmentsAlso final acknowledgement allows the reduction of the printing of the entire paper record

  • Benefits of using GP2GP • Improved quality and continuity of care – Consulting with immediate access to the electronic health record – Past medical history available and information about medication, allergies, immunisations and vaccinations • Improved safety – Accuracy of new patient EHR – Fewer errors, less scope for litigation • Clinical time savings – EHR available during initial consultations – Less request for duplicate lab tests • Administrative time savings – Summarisation – Less data entry – QOF information readily available
  • National Benefits Survey Clinical Survey Results • “The presence of the Electronic Health Record helps inform and support the clinical decision making process as to what medication to prescribe to the patient ” 92% of clinicians Agreed or Strongly Agreed • “Having information relating to Allergies and Adverse Drug Reactions in the Electronic Health Record improves patient safety ” 96% of clinicians Agreed or Strongly Agreed • “The patient experience is improved by the clinician having access to their Electronic Health Record at first consultation” 89% of clinicians Agreed or Strongly Agreed • “The Electronic Health Record contains clinical information such as test results, referral letters, radiology results which help in clinical decision making process” 92% of clinicians Agreed or Strongly Agreed
  • Once the patient has been found by PDS and registered at their new practice a message is sent to the previous practice via the ‘Spine’, requesting a copy of the patient’s electronic health record The previous practice’s system locates the patient’s record and sends an acknowledgement stating whether or not it is able to provide the electronic patient record GP2GP Old GP Practice New GP PracticeThe National Spine Service
