      • A high, continuing, level of public concern.
      • Concern for privacy is now sixth out of nine major issues surveyed.
      • Seventy-eight percent of all people surveyed were concerned or very concerned about the confidentiality of medical records (up from 74% in the 2001 survey).
      • Concern about the confidentiality of medical records was slightly higher amongst women and Maori, lowest amongst students and the retired and highest among homemakers and self-employed.
      • The only thing to rank higher was concern about the security of personal details on the Internet with 84% concerned or very concerned.
      • The general level of concern about privacy rose from 47% in 2001 to 56% in 2006.
