  3. 3. Background Insurance as a concept is not a new thing in this world. It’s been in existence for centuries. MetLife & Alico were two different insurance companies before 2010. MetLife’s acquisition of Alico is consistent with MetLife’s international growth strategy. It accelerates the company’s global growth as Alico operates in more than 60 countries.
  4. 4. Annals of MetLife Alico Alico’s story began 1921 in Shanghai, China. In March 2010 the latest chapter in their history unfolded when it was announced that their company would merge with MetLife. In other hand, for 140 years, MetLife has been insuring the lives of the people who depend on them. The firm was founded in 1868.
