  • Help us to protect the Peró Dune Field, the largest dune field in the state of Rio de Janeiro
    Why this is important
    The largest area of active dunes of the state of Rio de Janeiro is disappearing. The dune field of the Pero Beach (Cabo Frio-RJ), as well as its flora and fauna of sandbank, are being destroyed for the implementation of a huge hotel complex that will compromise the entire coastal plain of Pero. Installation licenses have already been granted by INEA, initiating the destruction of the forest sandbanks and planing of dune areas. This region has an important environmental value, especially for being one of the last dune fields of the state of Rio de Janeiro that have not yet undergone the process of urbanization. So the ecosystem of dunes Pero is habitat of endemic species of RJ as Lizard-of-the-beach (Liolaemus lutzae), the annual fishes Nematolebias whitei and Sympsonichthys constanceae and the endemic bird of restinga areas, the Formicivora littoralis, both species are critically endangered. We demand that the works of the project be halted immediately, that documents and adequacy of the project are revealed to the public, and that the environmental agencies are explained to the population.

  • 'Het duingebied langs het strand van Peró ( Cabo Frio RJ) dreigt , evenals de flora en fauna van de zandstrook van de Mata Atlantica, vernietigd te worden door de aanleg van een groot hotelcomplex. Naar verluidt betreft het hier een nieuwe Club Mediterranée .
    De Staat Rio de Janeiro heeft de vergunning inmiddels afgegeven voor de bouw , die zal leiden tot de vernietiging van bomen en planten van het duingebied. De duinen en de begroeiing van duingebied vormen in Brasil permanent beschermd landschap (zogenaamde APP’s: Áreas de Proteçào Permanente).
    Peró is van grote milieu-waarde, vooral omdat het hier een van de laatste duingebieden van de staat Rio de Janeiro betreft die nog niet zijn aangetast door het proces van urbanisatie.
    Het ecosysteem van de Duinen van Peró vormt de habitat van bedreigde en voor dit gebied unieke diersoorten, zoals de strandsalamander), bijzondere vissen en de op vier na met uitsterven meest bedreigde vogelsoort van onze planeet, de Formicivora littoralis.
    Wij eisen dat de bouw met onmiddellijke ingang wordt stilgelegd, dat de projectplannen en – documenten publiek worden gemaakt en dat het milieuorgaan van de Staat, INEA, publiekelijk tekst en uitleg geeft en de op een onverantwoorde wijze verstrekte vergunningen opnieuw onderzoekt.
    We weten ons gesteund door verscheidene professoren en wetenschappers van de universiteiten.
    Wij hebben ons tot doel gesteld 5000 handtekeningen te verzamelen voor de Bescherming van de Duinen van Peró in Cabo Frio. Laat iedere Facebook-vriend dit bericht delen om zoveel mogelijk mensen te bereiken. Beetje bij beetje zullen we ons doel bereiken: meer dan 5000 handtekeningen .
