  • The InRow SC System is an IT closet in a box complete with up to 7kW of cooling capacity, and is also available as a fully redundant system to provide additional availability. This simple self-contained, row-based cooling solution offers ease of installation and mobility during changes. Containment is wrapped around the IT rack and cooling unit to create an isolated environment capsule that can be placed in most surroundings.
  • Wiring closets/server rooms: Flexibility is a key feature required for Closet and Server Room environments which allows IT Managers, Facilities Managers and Contractors to install the system in various applications as a result of flexibility and ease of deployment. The InRow SC is available as a self-contained unit that does not require the use of an outdoor heat exchanger. The InRow SC is easy to install and requires no specialized skills or trades. Converted spaces: A lot of times, particularly in older buildings, you have this space that has always been used for an office environment with a comfort cooling system, however, with the advancement of technology, you’ve been forced to utilize some of that space for your IT and networking equipment. In these cases, the InRow SC Systems can provide dedicated air conditioning or supplemental cooling in a particular area. Data center hot spots: As virtualization creeps into the IT environment, hot spots are created. The InRow SC System can be deployed as a partially for fully-contained solution to be easily added as a retrofit for seamless growth. Environmentally controlled Manufacturing facilities: In additional, given the Enclosure is sealed, it is an ideal solution for manufacturing facilities where temperature and humidity are not adequately controlled for IT equipment. In these environments the InRow SC System serves as a “closet anywhere”. It is important to note that the system can not be deployed in hostile environments where air quality is not controlled, like industrial plants, since this system is not completely sealed to protect from airborne particles.
  • The InRow SC System is an IT closet-in-a-box, complete with up to 7kW of cooling capacity, and it is also available as a fully redundant system to provide additional availability. This simple, self-contained row-based cooling solution offers ease of installation and mobility during changes. Containment is wrapped around the IT rack and cooling unit to create an isolated environment capsule that can be placed in most surroundings. Available in three configurations, the InRow SC System can meet the needs of any closet or server room. The three configurations are defined as follows: Configuration 1: RACSC112 / RACSC112E Contains a single NetShelter SX rack enclosure, one InRow SC unit, and front and rear rack air containment Configuration 2: RACSC201 / RACSC201E Contains a single NetShelter SX rack enclosure, two InRow SC units, and rear rack air containment Configuration 3: RACSC101 / RACSC101E Contains a single NetShelter SX rack enclosure, one InRow SC unit, and rear rack air containment. It is important to remember that all three configurations require unconditioned air from a plenum space in order to reject the heat.
  • As shown in the image above, room air is pulled in through a filter at the rear of the unit, is cooled, and then distributed out the front of the unit to cool the space. At the same time, air from outside the room is utilized for capturing and removing heat. Hot discharge gas from the compressor enters the condenser coil, the condenser fans draws in air from the plenum and then blows it across the coil. Heat from the refrigeration system transfers to the air and that air is then discharged back into the plenum space. The condenser fan assembly contains 3 variable speed fans, controlled by the unit firmware. The condenser ducting kit consists of 3 flexible air ducts, each 6 foot long, 10 inch diameter (1.8m long, 254mm diameter) and a ceiling tile adapter plate. InRow SC comes with a 24” x 24” adapter for NAM, or a 600mm x 600mm adapter plate for EMEA. For more information, see application note 109.
  • Row-based architecture: The row-based design of the InRow SC System closely couples cooling to the heat generation source, improving the ability of the cooling unit to capture heat directly from the servers. Server heat capture, combined with the variable speed fans, allows the unit to operate very efficiently enabling more computing capacity per watt while reducing overall operating costs. Variable speed fans The InRow SC unit is equipped with variable speed fans that reduce energy consumption during off-peak cooling periods or when the rack is partially loaded. If the typical load operates at 70% of design capacity, the SC is capable of reducing energy consumption to match the demand of the heat load thereby drastically impact the overall operating costs of the data center. Network Manageable: Equipped with a network management card, the InRow SC provides embedded management by connecting the unit directly to the network. Each unit can be accessed through a dedicated IP address, or can be connected to the network through InfraStruXure® Central to improve overall access and reduce the number of nodes required for the cooling units. Through the network management card, the InRow SC can be accessed via a web browser to provide access to set points, alarms, and associated control data. This feature further enhances the visibility of the microprocessor control and health of the system to the IT Manager. Front/Rear Containment By utilizing rack air containment, capacity, redundancy, and efficiency of the system is improved. Containment of the hot air improves the overall sphere of influence (the ability of the air conditioner to capture heat from adjacent racks) of the InRow cooling unit. Rear containment ensures server exhaust air is returned to the InRow SC cooling unit for maximum cooling predictability by preventing recirculation of hot exhaust air. Front containment ensures cold supply air is not captured by neighboring equipment. Redundant Configuration: The InRow SC Systems can be configured to include an additional InRow SC unit to achieve redundancy. This configuration can use group controls to allow the two SC units to talk to one another. Noise Dampening: Containment of both the front and rear provides reduction of noise caused by installed equipment. Testing has proven that the use of containment reduces the noise level of the SC unit by 10dba. (Note the use of front and rear containment together is only available on the RACSC112(E) sku. As previously mentioned, the InRow SC Systems can be accessed via a web browser to provide access to set points, alarms, and associated control data. T he use of Active Response Controls enables the InRow SC to respond to thermal changes that occur in the rack, thus ensuring that desired inlet temperatures are held constant. The intelligence of the InRow SC provides visibility of the units operation, health, and capacity. This visibility permits IT and Facilities managers to plan for changes, react more rapidly to failures, and continuously monitor the system, thereby improving overall availability and agility . The InRow SC ensures proper server inlet temperatures by actively controlling cooling capacity. The unit adjusts cooling capacity in response to thermal changes within the rack of IT equipment to maintain rack inlet temperatures 7 x 24. By controlling at this level, the InRow SC ensures that IT equipment consistently operates within rack inlet temperatures between 68-80°F (20–27°C) as recommended by the Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments provided by ASHRAE. The InRow SC unit also offers Predictive Failure Notification . This provides advanced warning that filters or fans need to be replaced as well as visibility into the overall health of the system. This level of visibility greatly reduces expensive down time. Real time capacity monitoring: In addition to alarms and individual set points, the InRow SC provides visibility into the actual capacity being provided by each unit. Using this information and the performance specifications of the InRow SC, IT managers can effectively plan for IT equipment change-outs by enabling them to see where spare cooling capacity may be available. This provides knowledge the IT managers never had before.
  • ~This easy to use display allows the operator to view the status of the system. ~When powered on, the System Status light will illuminate green. ~To notify the operator of a new alarm condition, the Check Log status light will illuminate yellow, ~the Warning status light will illuminate yellow for a minor alarm, ~and when a major alarm occurs, the Critical status light will illuminate red. ~The operator can also select options from the devices intuitive menu-driven interface that is common among APC products. ~The user can view: Set-points Operating Parameters Environmental Conditions System Log and Alarm Conditions

  • Warranty: One year parts only warranty comes standard with the InRow SC System. However, if Assembly is purchased (WASSEM-AX-14), then a factory warranty of one year parts and labor is standard. Start-up services includes the assembly and start-up of the InRow SC . As part of the assembly of the SC unit, the rack enclosure will also be assembled.   (WASSEM-AX-14) The Rack Air Containment System (RACS) assembly would need to be purchased for every RACS position. The assembly sku for RACS assembly is WASSEM-AX-21 Preventative maintenance can be purchased on the basis of monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual visits.   • Cable Mgmt: Cable management in the rack is critical for speed of installation and ease of maintenance whether deploying servers or networking equipment. APC offers an extensive line of vertical and horizontal cable management within the racks and integrated overhead cable management for organizing cables externally. The NetShelter SX enclosure has rear cable channels where you can organize cables. Vertical accessories that mount in the rear of the enclosure are commonly used for server applications to vertically route power and data cables. Cable containment brackets and vertical cable organizers are two accessories that can mount toollessly in the rear channel. InfraStruXure Central: InfraStruXure Central provides an efficient way for organizations to monitor their company-wide multi-vendor physical infrastructure: power, cooling, security, and environment. Real-time monitoring, user-defined reports and graphs, and instant fault notification and escalation enable quick assessment and resolution of critical infrastucture events that can adversely affect IT system availability. This centralized repository of critical information can be accessed by multiple users from anywhere on the network, creating a consolidated view of the physical infrastructure. The platforms can grow with changing business needs through additional device licenses and add-on surveillance, capacity management and change management modules. Rack Power Distribution: Basic rack power distribution units allow users to distribute power outlets to rack-mount equipment. Horizontal and vertical units are available as well as a variety of power inputs and outputs to fit most power environments. Smart UPS: UPSs for voice and data networks, medical labs, and light industrial applications. This optional product should be used with networking equipment only as we do not recommend using a UPS with the InRow SC unit. This is due to the inrush current from the compressor.

  • APC’s Rack Access PX-HID protects NetShelter SX enclosures from unauthorized access. This IP-based system uses electronic locks to secure enclosures and access is granted through HID-based proximity cards or the secure Web interface. Users can integrate with existing building security, as it is compatible with HID-based proximity cards using 125kHz technology and can authenticate from a RADIUS server. Alarm notification options, such as email, indicate a compromised security state. Administrators can easily configure access for individual employees, schedule access to equipment for maintenance purposes, and view audit trails.
