Hyper-V R2 What’s new? • Live Migration and Clustered Share Volumes • Different CPU versions within the same family is OK • Many performance enhancements such as; • SLAT, TOE, VMQ, and Jumbo Frame support • Reduction in overhead resource requirements • More addressable cores (64) • Performance delta between VHD and Pass-through disk is negligible • Hot plug and remove of disks within the VM • OS platform enhancements such as; • Core Parking (automatic sleep state for cores) • “VDI” capability delivered through the integration with Remote Desktop Services (RDS) • Cluster Best Practices analyzer • Dynamic I/O redirection for clusters • New “Free” Version of Hyper-V Server (Server Core) now supports Live Migration and several of the enhancements above 8
