    • Chosen as consultant to Indian Railways through a two stage global bidding process. Created a PPP business model to plant 40000 Ha of spare railway land with Jatropha & use the resultant biodiesel for running engines.
    • Chosen as sole Indian partner with in a global network of European, US & Asian institutions & companies to develop a technology for treating waste water with Algae & convert it to biofuels.
    • Discovered & demonstrated high yielding Jatropha variants in 100 acre plantation in wasteland near Mumbai.
    • Development of a catalyst free technology for Biodiesel manufacturing.-(patent pending)
    • Development of low cost enclosed Photobioreactor system to produce Algae for Biofuels.

  • 13. Management of Food waste
    • Restaurants, Hotels & Households contribute majority of food waste in a city. As per a study, food waste contributes to around 25-30% of the total waste generated in a city.
    • Waste comprises of two components – Biodegradable(wet) waste and Non biodegradable (Dry) waste.
    • The wet waste comprises of food, vegetable and non-veg waste whereas the dry waste comprises of plastic bottles, papers, plastic wrappers, HDPE, LLDPE bags etc.
    • The wet waste (mostly food waste) is a major cause of mosquito breeding leading to malaria & dengue.
    • As per our observations, around 70 to 75% of waste generated by households, hotels, restaurants, eateries etc is biodegradable and can be effectively converted to Bio-CNG and manure using “ Growdiesel WTG1XG ™ Waste to Biofuel odourless process ” .

    • Growdiesel Mission has pioneered a process platform (titled WTG1XG) to build small compact systems for decentralized treatment of all types of organic waste and converts it into useful biofuel products that shall replace fossil based products.
    • WTG1XG is capable to recover the intrinsic energy content from all kinds of waste materials and capture the hydrocarbons contained in them for conversion to biofuel.
    • Growdiesel WTG1XG process is set to change the dynamics of the waste management by making waste a resource to generate cooking gas (alternate to LPG), transportation fuel (alternate to petrol/diesel), DG set fuel (alternate to diesel) & rich garden manure using an odourless commercially proven process.

  • 23. GHG Abatement strategy for Food waste
    • Methane is the primary GHG considered in food waste degradation.
    • The methane so generated is let off into the atmosphere.
    • Methane is over 20 times more harmful to earth’s climate than CO2
    • The abatement strategy for food waste methane generation is to either capture the methane generated in the landfill and burn or use it OR Avoid such waste reaching the landfill through an alternative processing strategy could generate substantial carbon credits .

    • Approx. Investment : Rs.35 lacs per ton of waste eliminated
    • Daily Gas generation: 90 to 100 m3 per ton of waste (94.7m3 in current project at Delhi Sec.)
    • Daily High quality Bio-manure production: 90-100 kgs per ton (95.7kgs in current project at Delhi Sec.)
    • Carbon credit generation: 460 per year
    • Realization from saving in LPG/PNG @Rs.20 per scm: Rs.7.30 L/yr
    • Realization from saving in garden manure @Rs.5/kg: Rs.1.82 L/yr
    • Income from sale of carbon credits @Rs.500/CER: Rs.2.30 L/yr
    • Total savings/income per year: Rs.11.42 lacs per year
    • Less O&M costs: Rs.3.5 L/yr per ton of waste eliminated
    • Return on investment: 25%
