Review Of Jean Baudrillard Resource Pack - Presentation Transcript

    1. Review of Jean Baudrillard Resource Pack
      • On first review of the resource pack, it appears accurate, and provides a good introduction to mainstream views on the theorist.
      • The biography section could be a bit fuller to give more insight into Baudrillard’s background, as it is not immediately obvious what area the theorist works in and their theories and interests. There are more informative biographies that can easily be found on the internet
      • The slides could be more visually stimulating as the large amount of text is quite hard to read.
      • It would have been helpful to have some references for the biography and precis information, so that anyone who wants to research Baudrillard further would have suitable starting points.
      • The precis of key works are readable. The precis of ‘Utopia Deferred’ particularly was very clearly explained for easy reading, and all are concise and kept down to one slide of information. However, some are a bit wordy and have not been translated and processed enough from the original sources making them harder to read and apply to practice.
      • There is some precis information missing.
      • It would be helpful if there was some opinions from the group on the ideas and theories presented in the key works summaries, to help others form their ideas on Baudrillard.
      • Bibliographies are fully detailed, however ‘works about’ is better referenced in the proper format.
      • There could be a bit more detail on Baudrillard’s Neo-Marxist theories on consumerism, which were quite dominant in most mainstream sources.
      • The groups account of how Baudrillard’s theories may affect culture, society, scenography, the body and performance could be more in depth, the groups relation of Baudrillard’s ideas on all of the previous categories are interesting and insightful, and could prompt further reading and influence future work
