Val will provide a quick overview of the upcoming Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games – Normandy 2014; A global competition showcasing horses and riders at peak performance.

unify equestrian sport
• Disciplines existed in relatively insular worlds
• Individual championships in various locations
• WEG means championships for all disciplines at one
time, one location, exposes fans to other disciplines
• Attracts widespread media coverage, raising public
awareness of equestrian sports.
4. Equestrian only version of the
Olympics
• Occurs every 4 years – alternating with
summer Olympics in even numbered years,
runs approx. 2 weeks
• Administered by the FEI ( Federation Equestre
Internationale)
• Offers a great overview of the horse world
• Countries bid on the opportunity to host

Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance,
Vaulting
• Reining Added in 2002 as a demonstration event,

It is most relevant that the world championships of equestrian sport, celebrating animals performing at their peak, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy will be held during the year of the horse in 2014. In Chinese culture, the Horse is a symbol of nobility, class, speed and perseverance. People born in the Year of the Horse are smart, fabulous speakers who have a gift for getting through to other people. They believe that their aim in life is "to seek individual freedom and happiness."

France’s Horse Breeding Mecca – Haras du Pin Ecurie (National Stud) – will provide the start of the 100-mile endurance race. The bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, the second most visited site in France, with one of the largest tidal ranges in the world will provide the magnificent backdrop for the 160 km of endurance tests that will meander around the UNESCO world heritage site.
