Hip Hip Hurrah Nancy. You deserve a big bear hug and a loving embrace for sharing this show. This is one presentation where many should follow such a simple exercise in preserving books and thus avoiding un-neccessary distruction of mother nature.

Good one Nancy! When I was at school in the UK in the 1950s & 60s we used to make paper covers for all of our exercise books. Quite often we would use leftover rolls of wallpaper.
    Warm regards,
    Jim

Thank you for all your comments. When I was schooling, I used to wrap my books in thick brown paper or used calendars so no cellophane tape was required. When you remove the paper at the end of the year, the books still look as good as new. These days, the teachers expect the children to wrap their books in clear plastic sheets.

Such good advice! When I was a child, centuries ago, we had to cover our books, notbooks, etc. with blue, green or red strong paper; no sellotape in those days. They would last much longer and could be passed on. Sometimes, old simple ideas made sense.

When School Books Are Free! - Presentation Transcript

  1. The Student Book Loan Scheme for all Malaysian students. When school books are free!
  2. You get them on loan... … dog eared!
  3. Worn and torn… … with each passing year.
  4. Time to keep… … those plastic (PET) sheets!
  5. You find them… … in packaging for food or water, gadgets or toys. Sometimes a strip is slipped under the collar of your new shirt.
  6. Just bend and fold a piece in half. … as shown here. Then cut out the folded stripe…
  7. Prepare for all 4 corners... … of the cover and back of book.
  8. What is the best size? Large enough to cover worn edges.
  9. Get your cellophane tape ready.
  10. Stick them to the book’s edges. See how it’s done here.
  11. That will hold the stripes in place.
  12. See the edges are much neater.
  13. That makes wrapping the books… … a breeze.
  14. Please start… … while the books are still new.
  15. Why? The longer books last the more energy and trees you have saved !
  16. A green idea from Nancy Created and shared on: http://www.slideshare.net/GreenBeingNancy http://greenbeingnancy.blogspot.com/ with thanks to MS Clipart artists discovered Working on raising eco conscious kids!
