  3. 3. Let me change your mind. <ul><li>Find: </li></ul><ul><li>1) a paper bag. </li></ul><ul><li>2) a pair of scissors. </li></ul><ul><li>Ready to cut? </li></ul>

  6. 6. A fruit box with holes on its sides.
  7. 7. Choose side of box to work with. Which side looks better? Back front
  8. 8. Check the edges. <ul><li>Are there any bent or damaged areas? </li></ul><ul><li>Draw a line with a ruler and cut that off first to create straight edges on all sides. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Create 6 pieces of “H”. <ul><li>Draw lines equidistant around each hole to form a “H”, as shown here. </li></ul><ul><li>Cut with scissors or blade and remove only one side of the centre flap. </li></ul><ul><li>Fold the other side of the flap downwards towards the back of the cardboard. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Line up all 6 “H” sides in a row. Face side down.
  11. 11. Join sides with cellophane tape. Top Centre and bottom Tape from the inside of lantern.

Join sides to form a circle. <ul><li>The taped sides should be on the inside of lantern. </li></ul><ul><li>Stand lantern once all sides are taped together. </li></ul><ul><li>Bend the flap inwards towards the centre of lantern. </li></ul><ul><li>This form the holder for base of the lantern. </li></ul>

Create base of lantern. <ul><li>Find a round object, example, a cover or plate, large enough to sit on the base holder. </li></ul><ul><li>This is a cover from a container of margarine I bought. It is a perfect size for my lantern. </li></ul><ul><li>Try to keep covers of food containers for craft projects. </li></ul>
  14. 14. Check for size. <ul><li>Put the cover or plate onto the base of the lantern. </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure that it is large enough to hold the hexagon shape in place. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Cut out cupboard for base. <ul><li>Place the cover or plate on another piece of cardboard. </li></ul><ul><li>Draw a circle around it. </li></ul><ul><li>I managed to find a cupboard with a circle already cut into it. </li></ul><ul><li>I placed the cover at its centre before I drew a circle. </li></ul><ul><li>Cut this circle out. </li></ul>
  16. 16. Place cut out base on top of flaps. Stick base to the sides with tape.
