  3. 3. Enterprise History • Launched in 2009 (pilot phase) • Provide real world experience to students – “Experience it Firsthand” • Unique program – Modeled after similar ones • Select group chosen – Profitable? – Meaningful? – Useful?

The Berry Farms Genetics Enterprise • Pilot in 2009 – Potential – High revenue stream – Meaningful to students • Organized entity for existing programs • Mission: develop an internationally recognized herd of registered Jersey cattle while educating students with the head, the heart, and the hands.
  5. 5. The Berry Farms Genetics Enterprise • Goals and Objectives: – Maintain positive customer relations – Harvest and sell embryos – Utilize genetic technologies – Improve genetic quality of the herd – MOST IMPORTANT: Provide opportunities and work experience for students!

What Exactly Do We Do? • Utilize technology to improve genetics – Flushing – Embryo Transfer – Artificial Insemination (AI) – Genomic Testing • Develop organized structures – Marketing team – Herd development team – Business management team • Involve students and business in the industry – POG sale
