  • 2. If we won’t know each other…<br />
  • 3. Do we still have our identity after this life?<br />
  • 4. What about our memory?<br />
  • 5. Matthew 17:1-8<br />[4] Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” <br />
  • 6. Romans 14:12<br />[12] So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.<br />
  • 7. Luke 16:19-31<br />[23] “In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. <br />
  • 8. Luke 16:19-31<br />[25] “But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. <br />
  • 9. Why Do We Wonder?<br />
  • 10. 1) What about us becoming spiritual?<br />
  • 11. 1 Corinthians 15:50-51<br />[50]  Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. [51] Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, <br />
  • 12. 1 Corinthians 15:44<br />[44] it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.<br />
  • 13. But: This does not teach an identity shift!<br />
  • 14. 2) What about there being no marriage?<br />
  • 15. Matthew 22:30<br />[30] “For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. <br />
  • 16. But: The relation of marriage is ended, but not the memory of it.<br />
  • 17. 3) What about knowing those who won’t get to heaven?<br />
  • 18. But: We know God can comfort us.<br />
  • 19. What We Find: Descriptions of Heaven<br />
  • 20. Genesis 25:8<br />[8] Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people. <br />
  • 21. 2 Samuel 12:23<br />[23] “But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”<br />
  • 22. John 14:3<br />[3] “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.<br />
  • 23. Luke 13:24-30<br />[29] “And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God. <br />
  • 24. Heaven is a place of reunion<br />and being together!<br />
  • 25. “Faith is the Christian’s foundation, hope is his anchor, death is his harbor, Christ is his pilot, and heaven is his country.”<br />
