  • 2. John 3:16[16] “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoeverbelieves in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
  • 3. 1 John 4:16 [16] We have come to know andhave believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and theone who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
  • 4. Romans 8:38-39 [38] For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels,nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, [39] nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • 5. Ephesians 3:19 [19] and to know the love ofChrist which surpasses knowledge,that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
  • 6. Understanding a Deep Concept
  • 7. “God’s love is an exercise of his goodness toward individualsinners whereby, having identifiedhimself with their welfare, he has given His Son to be their Savior,and now brings them to know andenjoy Him in a covenant relation.” -J.I. Packer, Knowing God
  • 8. 1) This love is an exercise of His goodness.
  • 9. Matthew 7:11[11] “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to yourchildren, how much more will yourFather who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
  • 10. 2) This love is toward sinners!
  • 11. Romans 5:7-8 [7] For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhapsfor the good man someone would dare even to die. [8] But Goddemonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
  • 12. 3) This love is toward individual sinners.
  • 13. 4) This love identifies Him with our welfare.
  • 14. Genesis 6:5-6 [5] Then the LORD saw that thewickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] The LORD was sorrythat He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
  • 15. Matthew 9:36[36] Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them,because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
  • 16. Ephesians 4:30[30] Do not grieve the Holy Spiritof God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
  • 17. 5) This love is expressed in thegift of His Son to be our Savior.
  • 18. 1 John 4:9-10 [9] By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God hassent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. [10] In this is love,not that we loved God, but thatHe loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
  • 19. 6) This love has the goal of bringing us to know and enjoy Him.
  • 20. John 12:32[32] “And I, if I am lifted upfrom the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

  • 22. Knowing the love ofGod should reshape our view of life!
