  1. 1. CAN YOU RECOMMEND YOUR RELIGION? Have you ever been asked to write a letter of recommendation for someone or recommend some product? A. Our life is a recommendation. B. Let us investigate our faith and religious beliefs and see if they are Biblical.
  2. 2. CAN YOU RECOMMEND YOUR RELIGION BY THE WORD OF GOD? <ul><li>A. Can you give a Bible answer to a question? (1 Peter 3:15; 4:11) </li></ul><ul><li>B. Can you open your Bible and find the church of which you are a member? </li></ul><ul><li>1. Can you find the doctrine you profess? </li></ul><ul><li>2. Can you find the name you wear? </li></ul><ul><li>3. Can you prove you are an obedient disciple? </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>C. Are you a member of the church that Christ built or one built by some man? </li></ul><ul><li>1. Christ is the builder of His church-Matt. 16:18. </li></ul><ul><li>2. Christ is the head of His church-Col. 1:18. </li></ul><ul><li>3. God adds those who are saved to the body of Christ-Acts 2:47. </li></ul><ul><li>4. It is through the church that we can give glory to God by Christ-Eph. 3:20-21. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>D. What about the doctrine you are following? (2 John 9) </li></ul><ul><li>1. Does it have its basis from the scriptures? (2 Tim. 3:16-17) </li></ul><ul><li>2. Are we aware of the warning against false teachers in Gal. 1:6-9? </li></ul><ul><li>E. Are you a Disciple (learner) of Jesus? (John 8:31-32) </li></ul><ul><li>1. No one can be a disciple unless they continue in the Word (Jesus). </li></ul>
  5. 5. CAN YOU RECOMMEND YOUR RELIGION OF THE WAY YOU LIVE? <ul><li>A. Our life is a true evaluation of how and what we believe (Titus 1:15-16). </li></ul><ul><li>1. Matt. 7:15-21 </li></ul><ul><li>2. James 2:14, 18 </li></ul><ul><li>B. If a person’s religion does not change him-he needs to change his religion. </li></ul><ul><li>1. Let your manner of life be worthy of the Gospel of Christ (Phil. 1:27) </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>2. We are to be a proper example for those living in the world (Matt. 5:16). </li></ul><ul><li>3. We are not just to tell a person how to become a Christian, we are to show them how to live as a Christian. </li></ul><ul><li>CAN WE RECOMMEND OUR RELIGION BY THE WAY WE SUPPORT IT? </li></ul><ul><li>A. Do we support the church by our attendance & participation? </li></ul><ul><li>1. Does our attendance & style of life proclaim a message to others? </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>B. Do we support the works of the church financially? Do we recommend this church by the way we give? (2 Cor. 9:6-11) </li></ul><ul><li>1. Can we separate our devotion and our giving? </li></ul><ul><li>CAN YOU RECOMMEND YOUR RELIGION BY THE WAY IT WORKS FOR YOU? </li></ul><ul><li>A. Does your religion provide you with something to turn to and lean upon? (Phil. 4:11, 13; Rom. 8:28) </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>1. Not one spiritual blessing is found outside of Christ (James 1:17). </li></ul><ul><li>2. Not one good thing is withheld from those who walk uprightly (Ps. 84:11). </li></ul><ul><li>ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? </li></ul><ul><li>A. A New Testament Christian is one who: </li></ul><ul><li>1. Has faith in God (Heb. 11:1, 6) and believes that Jesus is His Son (John 8:24) </li></ul><ul><li>2. Is willing to repent and live for the Lord (Luke 13:1-5). </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>3. Has confessed Christ as the Son of God before men (Matt. 10:32-33). </li></ul><ul><li>4. Was baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; Gal. 3:26-29). </li></ul><ul><li>5. Is willing to live a life of faithful service for the Lord (1 John 1:7; Rev. 14:13). </li></ul>
