Distribution is the second leg of a film, Distribution is where your film is distributed to Cinemas or Art Houses depending on the type of film by companies such as Optimum or Fox Searchlight productions.
Optimum Releasing/Studio Canal release films of vary genres, they could become interested in our film as it has classic Thriller conventions but also has placed a twist on the genre as the victim is male.
Another reason why Optimum would be interested in the film is that the plot line is simple but interesting as it is based on revenge, and is based in jail and in cities to track down the villain, this would be appealing to a company who are releasing a thriller movie as the thriller genre has become repetitive and bland storyline wise.
Our film could possibly appeal to a worldwide audience not just a UK based audience as the film has no distinctive Britishness to it, so the film could target an American audience as well as a European audence.
I would use the internet as a marketing strategy with websites such as Youtube and Facebook as a lot of people use this websites I would therefore be opening the film to a wider audience.
Release Strategies, you could release the film in 3D, but that technique would not work with this film as 3D is not used in the Thriller genre.
Exhibition Strategies, you could possibly stream the film to 100 people who won a competition in the film, as this techniques bring in attention to the film like Cat Fish which utilized the internet to gain attention to the film's release. As well as releasing the film in cinemas using the regular technque.
If you distributed the film by yourself then you would have complete control in bookings, you would obtain all the income from DVD's and the box office. Indie Filmmakers retain all rights to their films.
