    May 18th, 1980 Mt. St. Helen was erupted.
  • 3. In the 1980’s Olympics the U.S. hockey team defeated the Russian hockey team.
  • 4. Death of John Lennon
    John Lennon was a lead singer for the Beatles. On Dec. 8th, 1980 John Lennon was assassinated by Mark David Chapman.
  • 5. Sandra Day O’Connor
    Sandra Day O’Connor is the first female to bring supreme court justice.
  • 6. MTV
    MTV was created to be the first ever Music Television Set in the 1980’s. The first ever video was “Video killed the radio star”.
  • 7. Iran-Contra Affair
    Iran attacked the U.S. because, they took their leader to get some treatment. They kept 53 military men for hostage. U.S. failed to save them because, two choppers collided.
  • 8. Assassinated Attempt of Reagan
    John Hinckley Jr. assassinated Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981.
  • 9. “THRILLER”
    It was the longest music video made by Michael Jackson. It was released on Dec. 2, 1983.

    It was the life time drug of the 1980’s. John Belushi died by using cocaine.

    The Soviet Union shot down and destroyed South Korean air plane.

    Sally Ride was the first woman to go into space.

    Terrorist attacked by using bombs on the U.S. Beirut.

    Different types of music were made on cd’s that were release in the 1980’s.

    It was a needle that got rid of some fat in your body.

    The Olympics was held in Los Angeles on 1984.

    On 1983, Vanessa Williams became the first African American to be Miss America.
  • 18. We Are The World
    We Are The World was when U.S. supported Africa. This song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
  • 19. Crack Cocaine
    From 1984-1990 Crack Cocaine was used a lot in major cities.
  • 20. Len Bias
    Len Bias played basket ball in college. Then by the 1980’s he played basket ball for the Boston Celtics.
  • 21. Nintendo
    The Nintendo system was created in 1983.
  • 22. Challenger Disaster
    The Challenger was launched up in the air at 11:38am. It was two minutes later when the shuttle exploded on television.
  • 23. AIDS
    AIDS wasn’t first discovered until 1981. It was recognized by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
  • 24. Supermodel GIA
    Supermodel GIA was the first fashioned model during the early 1980’s.
  • 25. Baby Jessica
    Baby Jessica was rescued and on the headline it said “Odessa Baby” which was released on October 15, 1987.
  • 26. Michael Dukakis
    Michael Dukakis was the 65th and 67th government for Massachusetts from 1983-1991.
  • 27. Soviets Leave Afghanistan
    After the war in Afghanistan the Soviets took their Russian soldiers and left Afghanistan.

    Women wore high heels and men wore sneakers.
  • 29. Famous movies of the times
    The Gooines, The Christmas Story, and Beetle Juice were famous movies of the 1980’s.
