  • Mounting a glusterfs volume using glusterfs protocol survives a later server failure. Mounting a glusterfs volume using NFS protocol survives a server failure, if HA is setup using ucarp / Round Robin DNS. When a machine is down, mount can be done using any of the server names in the trusted storage pool; mounting by volume file directly is not a supported option.

  • When you mount a glusterfs volume with a server name listed, will that survive a failure? When if the machine is down when you try and mount it (ie node92 is down)? Is that when you have to use a whatever.vol file in the mount command instead of the name of one server?
