The concept and the inspiration is derived from themineral olivine, found in volcanic areas. Though rough onthe surface, when polished, is transformed into a Peridot.Difficult to distinguish, the green jewel hidden inside mustbe broken, polished, and refined to be fully appreciated.The same is true for complete wellness. ID 645 - Healthcare Design – Spring 2012 The Hearth Alzheimers Center CONCEPT STATEMENTThe design for the Hearthwas inspired by the ideas ofFrank Lloyd Wright whoused the hearth as the heartof the home. The fireplacearea is the central vista in thehome and is the first viewfrom the front entry. Theextended screened in porcharea also includes a mirroredoutdoor fireplace so adultscan enjoy the outdoors whilegathering by a warm fire.

ID 644 - Hospitality/Retail Studio – Fall 2011 Pomodoro Fine Italian Dining – Marco Island Waterfront, Florida CONCEPT STATEMENT Create a dining environment on the waterfront in Marco Island that could balance the existing Italian Renaissance architecture, with a more contemporary situation. Ceilings are similar to those used in Italian architecture using domes, and undulated transitions. Details in intimate seating areas contain rich fabrics and finishes, that follow the curves created in the restaurant logo.Three Dimensional CADD Rendering – Design Development Phase

ID 442 - Hospitality/Retail Studio – Spring 2011 Peoples Bank & Trust – Buford, Georgia CONCEPT STATEMENT Peoples Bank & Trust was created for community, and insight into their success helped form the basis for a design that further emphasized harmony. Throughout the space there is use of circular connections which remind you of relationship and unity. Blending warm colors with their traditional burgundy logo adds a more modern awareness to the space. Active textures help express movement and growth, bringing cohesiveness and agreement to the plan.

ID 440 Universal Design – Spring 2010/ Harbor House Youth Shelter Harbor House is a safe place of transition providingnurturing, counseling, and guidance for runaway youthbetween the ages of 10 and 17. Harbor House is located inthe heart of Portland where there is a strong community ofartisans and environmentally conscience individuals. Thisdesign showcases not only the need for reclaiming materials,but also reclaiming lives. Seasonal colors are highlighted inthe floor plan which follows the structure of a large tree. Thetrunk runs through the center and the braches linked to thetrunk provide support and structure within the mentoringspaces, counseling rooms and open deli. The Seasons Deliserves flavors from the open market where proceeds areused to support the efforts of the Harbor House Shelter All paints and finish materials have low VOC’s and complywith LEED standards. Cabinetry and custom pieces weremade by local Oregon artists who specialize in reclaimedmaterials. All areas have wide doorways, with five foot turnaround spaces in the bathroom and shower spaces. Lightingfixtures are made from reclaimed glass and use compactflorescent lamps that are Energy Star rated for efficiency.Fabrics are Terratex choices made from 100% recycled orcompostable materials. All rooms allow for a five foot turnaround to accommodate wheelchairs, and ease of mobility.Wide hallways and doorways help everyone transition fromone space to another. If we look at the word transition as a noun, it is apassage from one stage to another that involves movementand development. In each season, there are changes andshifts in our lives that affect movement. That same spirit willwork to change individuals who pass through this space tobegin a new season of positive change in their lives.
