    • We often get excited and select goals in the height of emotional excitement or exasperation.
    • Meditation provides emotional balance needed to choose wisely.
  • 5. 1) Know Yourself
    • 1b. Acknowledge your past
    • Identify those activities, relationships and events that provided satisfaction for you in the past.
    • Identify those activities, relationships and events that were dissatisfying for you in the past.
  • 6. 1) Know Yourself
    • 1c. Consult
    • Friends and Family
      • These individuals may know you in ways you do not know yourself.
    • Experts
      • Persons who have achieved the same goal are an excellent source of realistic information and will help you set proper goals.
  • 7. 2) Quantify It
    • Goals must be measurable and quantifiable.
    • Answer these questions:
    • - What?
    • - How much?
    • - By when?
  • 8. 2) Quantify It (example)
    • What? - Weight
    • How much? - 10 pounds
    • By when? - 6 weeks
      • I will weigh 185 pounds by noon on Monday, July 4, 2009.

    • Request help from the persons you consulted in Step One.

    • Break down your goal into actions you can take:
