LX277 is a 2004, LX266 is a 2003. Both are in excellent condition. Water Garden Vista Reply February 23, 2012 at 1:30 pm (Edit) Take them by your local John Deere dealer and see how much they would give you for them. Add about 25 to 30% and that will tell you about what it is worth. Neerdowellian Reply February 14, 2012 at 9:02 am (Edit) Do John Deere riding mowers cost more at a John Deere dealer or at a retail store like Home Depot or Lowe’s? And if it’s more at a John Deere dealer, why would I buy one there as opposed to one of the stores? Rinkydink Reply February 26, 2012 at 7:50 pm (Edit) Home Depot has a cheaper line of tractors. Dealers handle different model numbers and are built to last. Go see a dealer and ask him to tell you the difference to a HD. I bought a Deere in 1990 and with regular maintenance it is still going strong and looks like new. Last year I asked my dealer why I’d have to pay $4100.00 to him should I want to replace mine vs $1700.00 for a similar model at HD. He explained the difference to me. I’m happy with my 1990 with no plans on replacing it. I don’t think I’d say the same with a HD Deere. I’ve decided on a John Deere LA115 with muching plate and maybe a tow behind sprayer. Anyway, does anyone know what time of year is best or if it even makes a difference when you buy one? If so can you tell me where to get them on line?I appreciate the help.Happy 4th to everyone. Anonymous Reply February 25, 2012 at 11:30 am (Edit) I have never seen one but I suggest you ask John Deere or a JD authorized dealer that sells parts and does repairs. thebiggestfish Reply February 18, 2012 at 10:51 pm (Edit) are john deere riding mowers worth the money? I have two cub cadets… an International Harvester that is at 700+ hours and still works fine (usually) and a cheap MTD cub cadet bought about 7 years ago that surprisingly lasted over 500 hours but now cuts like crap and is literally falling apart. I want to purchase a nice riding mower (not a z-turn) good for over 6 acres a week that will last for a long time and will maintain its nice cutting ability for a while. I’m thinking the John Deere 304x will do great, but is it really what its worked up to be? Or is there a cheaper option that is equally as well-built?
  4. 4. Thanks! Anonymous Reply February 25, 2012 at 1:09 pm (Edit) Without getting into the utility tractor size it seems that quality riding lawnmowers are: John Deere. Cub Cadet. Toro-WheelHorse. I’ve found the green paint must really be expensive, but any of the three, in that price range, will be good tractors. (I got 16 years, 2000 hrs+ off of an Onan powered Toro, Plowing snow, tilling, and about 5 acres a week mowing. Went with Cub Cadet only because there is no longer a Toro dealer local.) Jules Reply February 21, 2012 at 11:42 am (Edit) Home Depot and John Deere riding mowers? I recently purchased a home and it has a huge lawn that needs to be cut. I’ve never purchased a lawn mower before, but knew I wanted a John Deere and I decided to go to to the Home Depot to price a riding one (I live in a small town, so this is the only big-box, hardware store in the area). Apparently, they only had (1) in stock (an LA105), but it was on their floor, but showed very slightly worn tires, and dust (probably when they drove on the floor). Anyway, as far as I was concerned, it wasn’t exactly new (wasn’t crated), but since it was the only one there, I asked if they would give me a slight price break (not much, maybe 5 or 10% off), and I would buy right now. I was rudely told “this is not a floor model, it was new.. no mower comes assembled, and John Deere actually has a service person come out to build and check it before they put it out”. Does anyone know if this is true? I may be ignorant when it comes to buying a mower, but I find it hard to believe homeowners have to assemble a riding mower on their own if they don’t buy the one sitting out on the floor. What do you think? Thanks. Sonny H Reply February 22, 2012 at 7:44 am (Edit) never mind home depo– go on line and find your john deere dealer, as they will be for real,, Anonymous Reply February 24, 2012 at 12:39 pm (Edit) Question regards to my John Deere Riding mower? This year, I bought three traction belts for the deck already. Something is wrong! When I engage the blades, the deck violently shakes and makes loud noise during operation. Then today, the belt came off four times. I gave up mowing. What can be wrong? I have John Deere L130 riding mower. Anonymous Reply February 25, 2012 at 8:56 am (Edit) the bearing or bushing are probably shot can you shake and move the blade are the pulleys lined up so there is no angle on the belt. when belt is off dose it spin freely Anonymous Reply February 25, 2012 at 10:22 pm (Edit) What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower? I have a john deere 48 inch cut riding mower and I am wondering how much oil that I need to put in it and what kind of oil do I use? How do I change the oil filter also?Leave a ReplyLogged in as Mr.Green. Log out? Post Comment (Ctrl + Enter)© Garden Lawnmower. Proudly Powered by WordPress | Nest Theme by YChong
