Just days before President Lincoln’s assassination, Charlie Dickey rejoices with family and friends over Union victories, but Lincoln’s death shatters hope. Charlie has spent nearly three years fighting to save the Union and mourns the loss a brother and brother-in-law. He has also fallen in love with a southern belle, but the chaos of war threatens to become permanent.
