  2. All populations have a structure . This is usually represented on a diagram called a population pyramid…
  3. The structure is made up of a particular combination of cohorts.
  4. A cohort is an age group, or a particular section of the population.
  5. Cohorts include: YOUNG PEOPLE… (also called young dependents)
  6. Middle Aged People – ‘the workers’…
  7. … and Old People .. (or elderly dependents) although increasingly people are having to work for a lot longer - as will you have to….
  8. Of course populations change for various reasons…
  9. People are born…
  10. People die….
  11. People move in…
  12. People move out…
  13. … and we all get older every day…
  14. How will the population of ‘your’ country change in response to a series of ‘chance’ events ?? Let’s play the game…
