  • Nine lessons learned. Nine elements of effective employee engagement, centred around leadership, technology and corporate culture, connected together by a value system based on trust and shared success. All are just as true today as they were when Tandem Computers experimented with them so many years ago. Sure the products and services are different, as are leadership styles and many of the elements of corporate it is these elements, not the compensation or the benefits package or the number and type of flexible work options, though all of those things certainly help. All of it was groundbreaking and deeply touched the souls and minds of all employees through the good and bad times. TRANSITION: But what is even more interesting is that these same concepts are also important management themes for the future. Gary Hamel one of American’s leading gurus in strategy and management talks about it this way.
