"Must Have" Features of a Hip Hop Beat

There are so many beat making software out there that choosing a good one might need
a lot of trials and errors. Some might have what you want and lacking in other features
and some the opposite.
Throughout my experience over the years with all these software, I wish to share with
you some major components and features that a good beat making software should
have.
First look at the music sequencer of the software. There should have at least 16
tracks with each having its own individual volume control. This is important. If you were
getting beat maker that has only 8 tracks, you might have problems creating high end
beats but restricted to make only simple beats. In other words, the more sequencer
tracks that the software has, the better.
Next, check for the software beats per minute (BPM) control. This is where you
are going to adjust and tweak the tempo. Some beat making software might not have
this feature and defaulted to the standard 4/4 tempo. So, it can be really frustrating and

will severely limits your creativity to make hot music beats.
You also want to make sure that the software comes with a virtual keyboard.
Well, it's not the major component if you are making hip hop beats, but you don't want
to lose out that feature do you? Having a virtual keyboard gives you the ability to add
piano elements into your beats easily.
A good beat making software should also has a big sound bank; drumbeats, snare
drums, percussion, electricbass, bass guitars, piano, organ, orchestra, timpani, tabla,
combos etc. Well, what does that mean? The more variety and the bigger the sound bank
is, the more unique beats that you can make.
Last but not least is the saving ability of the beat making software. I have had the
experience spending 2 hours to make a hot beat just to find out that the software can
only save the beats in a file format that was only readable by that beat maker alone and
no other media player. This is frustrating because I cannot burn my beats on CD or iPod,
whatever.
So, choose a beat maker that allows you to save your completed music beats in MP3
format which is among the most popular music format that can be played on all media
player. This way, you can easily share your beats with friends and even upload it online.
