Immanuel - God With Us

“…and they shall call his name Immanuel."
Matthew 1.23; ESV

“Immanuel”
It is more than a name, it’s a promise.
It is a promise of the present and future.
It is not a conclusion of a promised prophecy, but the reality of a sacred life.

The Security of “Immanuel”
“The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.”
(Psalm 23)

“As the deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.”
(Psalm 42)

“…I will never leave you
nor forsake you.”
(Hebrews 13.5; ESV)

To give a literal translation is scarcely possible; it would run in this way: “No, I will not leave thee; no, neither will I not utterly forsake thee.”

God knows the hair on our heads.

God knows our needs.

“Immanuel”
“God with us.”
Not simply God is here.
Not God is alive.
But God IS WITH US!
