  3. 3. Jordan – Quick Facts • The Capital City is called Amman • The Currency is Jordanian Dinar (JD). 1 JD = 78 INR • Temperate climate with summers of high 30’s and winter around zero. Large variance between day and night time temperature • Population – 5.7 Million • Flights are well connected to other Middle East destinations like Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain etc • A modern Islamic state • Tourism contributes 12% of the GDP

Star attraction of Jordan - Petra • The city of the Nabateans – The early Arabs • Flourished from 6th century BC to about 4th century AD • Rediscovered only in 1812 and protected by natural forces • Also called the Rose-Red City • A UNESCO Heritage Site since 1986 and now a New Wonder of the World
