Esri Maps for Office is a new component in Esri’s mapping platform that map-enables Excel spreadsheets and allows users to share the maps they create in PowerPoint slides or as online interactive maps. It’s designed to be used by any Office user, novice to advanced.
Esri Maps for Office brings a whole new analytical dimension Microsoft Office. After downloading this easy-to-install add-in, users can quickly create interactive maps of their Excel data, allowing them to gain new insight and make better, more informed decisions. Once they've made a map the results can be immediately shared with others by adding the maps they create to their PowerPoint presentations or by one-click publishing the interactive maps to Esri's online platform, ArcGIS Online.
Esri Maps for Office allows Excel users to create interactive maps of their Excel data - not only maps of their locations (e.g. customer addresses, facilities, businesses), but also maps of their geographic data (e.g. a color-coded map of sales by ZIP code).
Esri Maps for Office users can leverage many different kinds background maps (street, satellite, topographic, greyscale etc.) They also have access to thousands and thousands of additional maps published by Esri's worldwide user community.
The process of creating a map of Excel data is similar to creating a graph or chart. Because the maps Excel users create are dynamic, users can quickly start exploring and interacting with the data in a whole new way.
