  • What Can Hold up the Process? Usually where you can’t agree on something:Care of children;Maintenance;Division of assets;Costs.Also where one or both of you is withholding information needed for the divorce.(That person may end up liable for costs). So what happens? 
  • Disagreements Can be Settled by the Court.The court will encourage you to settle your own differences.If you can’t, you can apply to the court to sort things out for you.Expect a ‘court order’ which makes the court’s decision official.Let’s look at those ‘hold ups’
  • Withholding Information. Even if you think it’s unfair, you must give your solicitor full details about your financialcircumstances; incomings, outgoings and assets.If you don’t do this, and/or your spouse doesn’t, then the whole divorce process may be slowed down...and you may be asked to pay court costs.
