  • 2. Today ‘Patience while we wait’ Acts 1:1-11 ‘New beginnings for the people of God’
  • 3. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” Luke 24:49 Jesus’ instructions
  • 4. while he was eating with them, He gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about” Acts 1:4 Jesus’ instructions
  • 5. After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive Acts 1:3a 1. The reality of His resurrection
  • 6. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God Acts 1:3b 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 7. Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people Matt 4:23 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 8. Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:20-21 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 9. He (Paul) proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ – with all boldness and without hindrance! Acts 28:31 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 10. ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority Acts 1:6-7 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 11. “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority” Acts 1:7 2. The coming of the Kingdom
  • 12. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth Acts 1:8 3. The power of the Holy Spirit
  • 13. Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty Zech 4:6 3. The power of the Holy Spirit
  • 14. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power 1 Cor 4:20 3. The power of the Holy Spirit

  • 16. … He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 4. The assurance of His coming again
  • 17. ‘Men of Galilee …why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven’ Acts 1:9-11 4. The assurance of His coming again
