Fujitsu STYLISTIC M532

  1. 1. Fujitsu STYLISTIC M532Work and Enjoy with Confidence The new way of working The working environments as well as the single workplace will change significantly over the next few years. But “over the next few years” does not mean waiting and watching for their occurrence. Those changes are already taking place and as it was already experienced in offices, at an ever-increasing speed. What are the factors that drive these immense chan- ges? Fujitsu identifies two main drivers in the development of IT infrastructures today and in the next 3 to 5 years: flexibility and virtualization. The need to improve IT flexibility is a result of evolving user demands. Unlike previous generations, the tech-savvy em- ployees of today and tomorrow don’t like to be stuck in their offices all the time. Instead, they want to work with devices that enable them to keep pace with their work habits and personal lifestyle—to connect, work and interact with colle- agues, family and friends wherever they are – at the office, at home, at a hotel or on a plane. These demands translated into technical requirements show that those employees expect devices that provide excellent usability, maximum connectivity, long battery life, and zero startup times. The same users who desire to work and interact everywhere must be able to share and access content across multiple devices. The reasons are manifold, but being able to share is the indispensable prerequisite for successful collaboration. A recent survey showed that 50 percent of all participants use 3 or more devices to access content, including corporate resources. For these empowered employees, secure anywhere access is a basic personal necessity. And while 70 percent use email to deliver documents, images and spreadsheets, a constantly growing number also relies on services such as SkyDrive or Google Docs to store, exchange or work on their files. From rigid workplace to dynamic workspace In combination, this means that the transition from tradi- tional, rigid workplaces to modern, dynamic workspaces is well underway. Companies and their employees are breaking down the barriers – and the methods – of traditional IT, espe- cially where and when travel is required. In turn, the need for businesses to be flexible and mobile, and for employees to be
  2. 2. flexible and mobile for business, has never been greater. The ability to completetasks while being away from the office will only increase – as it already has –employee productivity and efficiency. At the same time, these productive andefficient people organize much more of their private lives while on the go.As a result, users now expect more from the devices they work and communicatewith. This is why the role of such devices themselves has changed. Rather thanserving as a mere platform for “work”, they need to accommodate users’ businessand private lives. ‘Classic’ IT equipment – powerful as it may be – often isn’t suitedfor the job. Devices that were originally intended for personal use often providethe desired functionality. This is why so many employees have brought their ownsmartphones and tablets to the office, initiating the consumerization of corporateIT and igniting the BYOD trend. In this climate, even companies that are supportive of breaking down the barriersneed to stay in control and prevent confidential information from being leakedto the public or the competition. That is where virtualization comes in. In context,it serves as another enabling technology – in this case, enabling companies tomanage and monitor the multitude of new devices as well as communicate andshare between different parts of company networks.Fujitsu’s STYLISTIC M532 is different in many ways. It marks a radical departurefrom the way the tablets are developed and built. In the design of previousmodels, the focus was on entirely on business and functionality. A tablet wasbasically a regular PC, albeit in a different form. It had standard hardware com-ponents, a standard operating system, and, the most important “standard” ofall—the ability to run standard office applications.Bringing business and private life togetherBy contrast, the STYLISTIC M532 is Fujitsu’s first dual-use tablet. It’s an entirelynew platform that empowers users to embrace the current megatrends – consu-merization of IT and BYOD. This time, the form hasn’t changed. But everythingunder the hood is new, so users may work and enjoy this hybrid experience withconfidence.Productivity tools include a mobile office suite for content creation and Ado-be Reader, among others. Its security software package includes a 1 year fullsubscription of Norton Tablet Security and protects the tablet against loss, theft, malware, and other threats. With these functionalities and features, the STYLISTIC M532 is more than aptlyequipped to help users building a bridge between their professional, businessresponsibilities and their personal, private lives. Its VDI applications grants anytime, anywhere, secure access to business infor-mation and corporate IT resources in a desktop virtualization environment. Theseapplications enable users to work in Windows 7. Thanks to the VDI environment, they have access to their individual desktops and can enjoy the full Windows 7experience. Android 4.0 (”Ice Cream Sandwich”) in combination with Fujitsu’schoice of selected business apps allows users to do whatever they need to do,whenever – for work, for fun, or for both.To summarize this radically new tablet offering: With its multifaceted combinationof powerful hardware and intuitive operating system, VDI-readiness, superiorbusiness software selection, and unique combination of extras, the STYLISTICM532 will easily hold its own in the tablet market.Published by All rights reserved, including intellectual property rights.
