Market growth in all regions except Europe, accelerated introduction of plug in hybrid and battery electric vehicles due to increasing fuel prices, mobility and integrated transportation as well as the integration of the smart phone with dedicated application stores and innovative HMI concepts will be the key topics in 2012 and beyond.

Market Highlights for 2012 Key Market Highlights • Better economic conditions, improving job market and loosening credit conditions in the United States will push the customer to continue buying new vehicles and the market is expected to grow by 8 percent to 13.8 Million in 2012. • 55 percent of the global vehicle sales to come from Asia, Eastern Europe and LATAM. • European debt crisis to continue to have an impact on the West European market with 5 percent decline in year on year vehicle sales. • Top 5 OEMs to account for about 37 million light vehicle sales by 2012. • Toyota expected to regain the crown as the largest OEM in 2012 as its production levels are expected to bounce back in 2012. • OEMs like Ford, PSA, Renault, Toyota and Opel are expected to lower production levels and delay the launch of new models to H2 of 2012 to address the challenge of production overcapacity. • Passenger vehicle diesel share to remain strong in Europe with a share of about 51 to 53 percent in 2012 while North American market will remain very niche with diesel vehicles accounting for just about 2 to 3 percent. 10
