DIRKS/ R. KOHLER FROM MA3 GEN KULPA SUBJECT: LAUNCH OPTIONS FOR G-52 4. THIS MESSAGE SUPPLEMENTS KWBISON 4745 AND RESPONDS TO YOUR TELECON QUESTIONS OF 48 FEB 84. THE MINIMUH TIME REQUIRED BETWEEN GAMBIT-54 DEBOOST AND GAMBIT-S2 LAUNCH DEPENDS ON THE MISSION OF G-52. TO SUPPORT A G-S2 HIGH ALTITUDE MISSION WE REQUIRE DEVELOPMENT AND DRESS REHEARSALS USING CRITICAL PEOPLE AND COMPUTERS WHICH ARE DEDICATED TO G-54 OPERATIONS. HENCE 24 DAYS ARE NEEDED TO PREPARE FOR THE HIGH GAMBIT MISSION. IF A LOW LATITUDE MISSION IS ASSIGNED TO G-52 CSIMULAR TO THE G-54) R,ORAIN/J. R ECONFIGURATION AND REHEARSAL). TO PROTECT EITHER CASE. WE WILL NEED -MISSION DEFINITION AT L-35 DAYS TO ENSURE ADEQUATE PLANNING FOR THE HIGH GAMBIT MISSION. IN VIEW OF THE ABOVE GAMBIT CONSTRAINTS AND SLC-4E MODIF FICATIONS STATUS THE FOLLOWING LAUNCH OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE: EVENT A EARLIEST NOMINAL G-52 SCHED SCHED PRESENTED AT • I SARI SAMS SAFSS EXEC IAA P8;13 S&T SAFISPE REGISTRY COMM cgee •nnn•••n•••••nn•••n•••• • CSLC-4E READY3 6-54 DEBOOST 6- AUNCH 26 JUN 4 UL 26 JUN 8 THE A V- A•L T HE PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED. • ARO APPROVED FOR RELEASE DECLASSIFIED BY: C/IART DECLASSIFIED ON: 10 JANUARY 2013 B. COLUMN E. THE NOMINAL OPTION IS DRIVEN BY SEPARATION BETWEEN G-SaVOST AND G-S2 LAUNCH AND SLC-4E CHEDULE. IT REPRESENTS A COMFORTABLE READINESS TO SUPPORT A SCHEDULE. C. COLUMN A. THIS SCHEDULE IS ALSO DRIVEN BY GAMBIT MINIMUM SEPARATION FOR DEBOOST - LAUNCH AND LATEST EXPECTED READINESS OF SLC-4E. BUT WE HAVE REWORKED IT TO SHORTEN THE PREP TIME FOR A HIGH MODE G-52 TO 24 DAYS AND HAVE REASSESSED THE INTERACTION BETWEEN PADS. 4. THE SCHEDULES ARE ESSENTIALLY INDEPENDENT OF PARALLEL G-S2 PROCESSING SINCE THE DRIVER IS SLC-4E READINESS. MY LATEST STATUS REVIEW OF THE SLC-4E SITUATION INDICATED THAT ALL MAJOR STRUCTURAL MODS WILL BE COMPLETED BY 4 MARCH AS PLANNED. HOWEVER THERE ARE A NUMBER OF REWORK ITEMS WHICH WILL CARRY OVER INTO THE AGE REINSTALLATION AND CERTIFICATION TIME PERIOD C4 MARCH-40 MAY]. HENCE, THE EARLLIEST LAUNCH DATE IS NOW PROJECTED AT REVW 2S FEB 04 CFCRCT ST 02447 NNW tr• ire ,!TMMMTATIY,wme7mMATTMn'ir: '7'7
