  • 1. Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth?Who was Jesus of Nazareth? For nearly two thousand years, the world has debated this question. Some say He would be a prophet. Some think he was a madman. Still others think He was a greatteacher. But for those who identify His voice, the question is not Who was Jesus associated withNazareth?, but rather Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Because unlike other men of history, jesus ofNazareth was, is, and will be for all of eternity.A careful examination of the historic record reveals that jesus of Nazareth is nothing under the Wordof God home as flesh among men. The Holy Spirit of God became a man and walked among us:"at first the Word already existed. The term was with God, and also the Word was God." john 1:1(NLT)"So the Word became individual and made his home among us." John 1:14 (NLT)"In Christ life all the fullness of god in a human body." Colossians two :9 (NLT)While most of the worlds people desperately search for truth - to become closer to God Almighty, thecreator of the Universe - the doorway is wide open for them to encounter a personal relationship withthat exact same God. He is the same last night, today, and tomorrow. His name is Jesus of Nazareth. But dont take my personal word for it. God has a number of identifiable character traits. If Jesus ofNazareth is worthy of the title of God Almighty as well as Lord of Heavens Armies, then the historicalaccount of His life will uncover that He shared these distinctive traits. Lets examine all of them.Omniscient (All-Knowing)The meaning of God requires Him to be all-knowing. God must have understanding of all things, including the thoughts of others. Did Jesus exhibit this character trait? yes. He did.History reveals a number of instances in which jesus displayed His omniscience. RIght here, wellexamine a few.The Coin In The Fish -- Jesus illustrated His knowledge of the future, as well as His knowledge of themost minute details of creation when He revealed to His disciples that they were to trap a fish, openits mouth, and find a large silver coin inside:"go down to the lake and toss in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will look fora large silver coin." Matthew 17:27 (NLT)The Samaritan Woman - upon meeting a Samaritan lady, Jesus told her everything your woman hadever done. Their knowledge was enough to convince her that He was the Messiah, and His phraseswere enough to persuade many in her town that hes the Living Son associated with God:"Many Samaritans from the village believed in christ because the woman had said, He told meeverything i ever did!" steve 4:39 (NLT)"You Know Everything" - the disciples, who spent more time with Jesus during their earthly ministrythan anyone else, testified that He knows everything - the very definition of omniscience:"Now we understand that you know everything, and theres you dont need to question you. From thiswe feel that you came from God." steve 16:30 (NLT)"A third time he asked him, "Simon son of John, do you love me" Peter was hurt which Jesus asked
  • 2. the question a third time. He said, Lord, you know everything. You know that i really like you." John21 :17 (NLT)12-Year old Jesus In The Temple - As a young boy, jesus and His family made a pilgrimage to theTemple in Jerusalem. While there, Jesus amazed the Jewish religious teachers with Hisunderstanding:"three days later they finally discovered him in the forehead, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him or her were amazed at his knowing and hisanswers." Luke two :46-47 (NLT)"how does He Know All This?" -- Jesus taught in the forehead, and the people were amazed at theactual depth of His knowledge, since He was not a man educated and trained by men:"Then, midway through the festival, Jesus proceeded to go up to the Temple and began to teach. Thepeople were surprised when they heard him or her. How does he understand so much when hehasnt been trained? they requested." John 7:14-15 (NLT)"One Of You Will Betray Me" - Jesus had fore-knowledge of His unfaithfulness. He knew that one ofthe very trusted members of their inner-circle would betray him :"Then Jesus stated, I chose the twelve individuals, but one is a demon. He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would later betray him." john 6:70-71 (NLT)Jesus Knew Of His passing away - Jesus had complete knowledge of His purpose in coming into theworld. He understood what would happen to Him, the hands by which it would occur, and themiraculous event which may take place three days later on :"From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples obviously that it was necessary for him to go toJerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leadingpriests, and the teachers of religious law. He would end up being killed, but on the 3rd day he wouldbe elevated from the dead." Matthew 16 :21 (NLT)Omnipotent (All-Powerful)A second character trait of God is omnipotence. By definition, God is all-powerful. He has power overall things. Did Jesus of Nazareth exhibit this character trait? History reveals that he did.The Power To forgive Sin - According to the aged Testament, only God has the ability to forgive sins. And the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied during the day when God will eliminate men of theirwickedness and not again remember their sins:"And I will eliminate their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." Jeremiah 31:34(NLT)Yet, in spite of His knowledge that only God can forgive sins, Jesus obviously announced His ownpower to eliminate sins, thus revealing himself as God:"seeing their faith, Jesus believed to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven. But somefrom the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, What is he sayingThis is blasphemy! Only lord can forgive sins!a " Mark 2:5-11 (NLT)Power To Lay Down their Life - Throughout history, men and woman possess died. Despite theimmense energy some of these individuals wielded, not a single one of them displayed the ability to
  • 3. come back to life once lifeless. Yet Jesus claimed to possess this power:"the daddy loves me because i sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can consider mylife from me. We sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and alsoto take it up again." steve 10:17-18 (NLT)Three days and three evenings after His crucifixion, christ of Nazareth exhibited this particular power.Power Over wind and Waves - like one would expect of lord, Jesus of Nazareth had power over windas well as waves:"When christ woke up, he rebuked the wind and the flaming waves. Suddenly the storm stopped andall was calm. Then he asked them, Where is your faith? the actual disciples were terrified andamazed. Who is this guy they asked one another. When he gives a command, even the wind andsurf obey him!" lomaz 8:24-25 (NLT)Power Over Fish - similar to His power of the wind and waves, Jesus highlighted His power over allassociated with creation by commanding the very movements of fish:"Then he said, Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and youll acquire some ! Sothey did, and they couldnt haul in the internet because there were so many fish in it." John 21:six(NLT)His Breath Blew Down Soldiers - the actual Roman Army is known throughout human history as oneof the most callous and powerful fighting forces the world has ever known. Yet, christ of Nazarethcast Roman soldiers to the ground with the really breath of His mouth area :"As Jesus said I AM he, they all drew back as well as fell to the ground!" John 18 :6 (NLT)Power over Physical RealmIn addition, the actual miracles of Jesus state to His identity. These people proclaim His power withinthe physical universe:"a man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, pleading to be healed. If youre willing, you canheal me and make me clean, he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him.I m willing, he said. Be healed! Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the guy was healed." Markone :40-42 (NLT)"following Jesus left the girls home, two blind males followed along behind him or her, shouting, Sonof david, have mercy on us! They went right into the home where he was remaining, and Jesusasked them, Do you believe I can cause you to see? Yes, lord, they told him, we do. he thentouched their eyes as well as said, Because of your belief, it will happen. then their eyes wereopened up, and they could see!" Matthew 9 :27-30 (NLT)"among the men lying there had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him as well as knewhe had been sick for a long time, he asked him, Would you like to get nicely I cant, mister, the sickman said, for I have no one to put me into the swimming pool when the water bubbles up. Someoneelse always gets presently there ahead of me. jesus told him, Stand upward, pick up your mat, aswell as walk! Instantly, the person was healed! He rolled away his sleeping mat and began walking!"John 5 :5-17 (NLT)"he saw that they were in severe trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind as well as
  • 4. waves. About three oclock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He or sheintended to go past all of them, but when they saw him walking on the water, these people cried out interror, considering he was a ghost." tag 6:48-49 (NLT)And Jesus performed many other miracles which required power within the physical universe, far toomany to be examined here.Omnipresent (Ever-Present)By definition, God is omnipresent. He is everywhere all the time. He exists in all places in the past, present, and long term. Can this be said of jesus Did Jesus of Nazareth really exhibit this charactertrait? Yes. He did."I Saw a person Under The Fig Tree" - Upon first meeting Nathanael, Jesus proclaimed that He sawhim under the fig sapling earlier that day. His statement mesmerized Nathanael, who acknowledgedthis as knowledge that no other man could have. But Jesus was there. Since the omnipresent Spirit oflord, He was present when Nathanael was under the fig tree:"As they contacted, Jesus said, Now this is a genuine son of Israel - a man of total integrity. How doyou know about me? Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig tree before Philipdiscovered you. Then Nathanael exclaimed, Rabbi, you are the son of God - the King of Israel! "John 1:47-49 (NLT)The Holy Spirit -- God is Spirit, and also the Spirit of God grew to become flesh in the nameassociated with Jesus of Nazareth:"In the beginning the Word already been around. The Word was with lord, and the Word was lord. Heexisted in the beginning with God. God created every thing through him, and nothing was madeexcept through him. The term gave life to everything that was created, and his life introduced light toeveryone. The sunshine shines in the darkness, and also the darkness can never extinguish it." John1:1-5 (NLT)Be With You Always -- Reminding them of their omnipresence, Jesus assured his disciples He wouldalways be with them, even to the end of the grow older :"And be sure of this particular : I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20(NLT)This unique ability to be present along with each individual (not just the 12 disciples, but all thatbelieve in Him), at all times all through history, is demonstrative from the omnipresence of Jesus.Him Who Fills All - In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul testifies that christ "fills all things everywherealong with himself":"And the chapel is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere withhimself." Ephesians one :23 (NLT)EternalYet an additional characteristic of God is actually His eternal nature. Lord is not bound by time ordeath. He is the first and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. According to the Old testomony, there isno other God:"This is what the Lord says - Israels King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heavens Armies: I am the First
  • 5. and the last ; there is no other God. " Isaiah 44:6 (NLT)Does this character trait describe Jesus of Nazareth? The Apostle John testified yes:"When I noticed him, I fell at his feet as if we were dead. But he or she laid his right hand on me andstated, Dont be afraid! I am the first and the Last." Revelation 1 :17 (NLT)What do Jesus Say?So much, weve examined the evidence as recorded by the Old testomony prophets and the Newtestament witnesses. But what did Jesus Himself have to state about this subject? If were truly therighteous spiritual teacher and holy man many claim Him to become, would He call himself God if todo so had been false? Of course not. Yet this is exactly what Jesus claimed. On many occasions, Heunequivocally mentioned that He is God Almighty. The Father and I Are One - Jesus Himself claimed to be equal with God:"The Father and I are one." john 10:30 (NLT)Before Abraham, I AM - based on the Old Testament, when Moses requested to the know the nameof God, the Almighty replied "I AM":"but Moses protested, If time passes to the people of Israel and tell them, The god of your ancestorshas delivered me to you, theyll ask me, What is his name? after that what should I tell them?a Godreplied to Moses, I AM WHO i am. Say this to the individuals of Israel: I AM offers sent me to you. "Exodus 3:13-14 (NLT)In answering His experts, Jesus proclaimed Himself to become "I AM":"Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, im !" John 8:58 (NLT)"Philip, not Know Me?" - when Philip asked to see the father, Jesus plainly told him he had alreadyseen the daddy. To look upon Jesus, would be to look upon the Father:"Jesus replied, Have i been with you all this period, Philip, and yet you still dont know who I am?Anyone who has seen me has seen the daddy ! So why are you asking me to show him to you?a "John 14:9 (NLT)You Will See the boy of Man on Clouds of Heaven - While standing before the High Priest to beinterrogated, Jesus was requested who He was. NO one with knowledge of the Old testamentscriptures can mistake his response:"Jesus replied, You have said it. And in the future you will see the boy of Man seated in the host topower at Gods right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven. " Matthew 26:64 (NLT)By claiming they would see Him seated in the host to power at Gods correct hand, Jesus wasproclaiming Himself to be the Lord of the Old Testament:"the lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor inside my right hand until i humble your enemies, which makes them a footstool under your feet." Psalm 110:1 (NLT)By claiming theyd see Him coming on the actual clouds of heaven, jesus was proclaiming Himself tobecome the One whose rule is actually eternal:"As my personal vision continued that evening, I saw someone like a son of man coming with theclouds of heaven. He or she approached the Ancient one and was led into his presence. He washanded authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every
  • 6. competition and nation and vocabulary would obey him. Their rule is eternal - it will never end. Theirkingdom will never be destroyed." Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)Jesus proclaimed Himself to be none other than God Himself.Accepts praise From Others Without Rebuke - In addition to His statements, what Jesus didnt statehas a lot to say about His identity. For example, Jesus clearly mentioned a person must only worshipGod:"Get from here, Satan, jesus told him. For the Scriptures say, You should worship the Lord your lordand serve only him." Matthew 4:10 (NLT)Yet, when people worshipped Jesus or fell lower at His feet or called Him Lord, he or she did notrebuke them. He did not respond to them by saying, "Im only a man. Dont worship me." rather, Heperpetuated the notion that he should be honored like god the Father:"He has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone may honor the Son, just like theyhonor the Father." john 5:22-23 (NLT)The following examples show christ accepting this high compliment and honor:"My Lord and my lord ! Thomas exclaimed. After that Jesus told him, You believe because you haveseen me. Blessed are those who think without seeing me.a " John 20:28-29 (NLT)"Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. Lord, the man said, if you arewilling, you can recover me and make me thoroughly clean." Matthew 8:2 (NLT)"But she came and worshiped him or her, pleading again, Lord, assist me to !" Matthew 15:twentyfive (NLT)"And as they went, Jesus met all of them and greeted them. And they ran to him, understood his feet, and worshiped him." Matthew 28:nine (NLT)"Yes, lord, I believe! the man said. And he worshiped Jesus." john 9:38 (NLT)In each of these instance, human beings gave Jesus praise, honor, as well as titles worthy of God onits own. And He gladly accepted their praise. What Did lord Almighty Say?If jesus were the only witness of His divinity, then He really should not be believed. But Hes not theonly witness. His Father within heaven also testified to the identity of Jesus of Nazareth:"And a tone of voice from heaven said, This is my dearly cherished Son, who brings me personallygreat joy." Matthew 3:17 (NLT)I Will Share My beauty With No OneThe Old testomony clearly documents Gods intention to share His glory with no one else:"i am the Lord; that is my title ! I will not give my glory to anyone else, neither share my praise withcarved idols." Isaiah forty two :8 (NLT)In fact, one of the ten commandments prohibits worship of false gods:"You must not have every other god but me." Exodus 20:3 (NLT)If God will not share their glory with anyone else, after that by definition, Jesus of Nazareth can notshare in their glory. Unless, of course, christ and God are one and also the same. And this is theplacement put forth by the Creator of the Universe:
  • 7. Gods Voice SpeaksGod testified before men he would bring glory to the name of Jesus:"Father, bring glory for your name. Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, I have already broughtbeauty to my name, and i will do so again.a " John 12:28 (NLT)And Jesus spoke from the glory they share:"Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began." john 17:5 (NLT)Following the birth of christ, a host of angels praised god in full sight of men, this provides you withglory to Jesus:"Suddenly, the angel had been joined by a vast host associated with others - the armies of heaven -praising God and saying, Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whomlord is pleased." lomaz 2:13-14 (NLT)John also testifies to the beauty of Jesus:"we now have seen his glory, the glory of the Fathers one and only Son." John 1:fourteen (NLT)Its the same glory God proclaimed He would give to His son in the aged Testament:"The king proclaims the Lords decree: The Lord said to me personally, You are my boy. Today Ihave become your father." Psalm 2:seven (NLT)How could lord glorify Jesus, and remain true to His word to never give His glory in order to anyoneelse, unless giving beauty to Jesus is the same as giving glory to God?ConclusionThe characteristics of God, all shared by Jesus of Nazareth, reflect the fulfillment of an OldTestament prediction - a promise around the world. God promised a sign, that the virgin wouldconceive a kid, a boy whose name means God is with all of us, meaning He would end up being Godin the flesh:"All right then, the Lord themself will give you the sign. Look ! The virgin will conceive a child! She willgive delivery to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means God is by using us)." Isaiah7:fourteen (NLT)This prophecy was fulfilled in the birth associated with Jesus of Nazareth:"As he considered this, a good angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, athe angel said, do not be afraid to take jane as your wife. For the kid within her was conceived by theHoly Spirit. And she or he will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save hisindividuals from their sins. all of this occurred to fulfill the Lords message through his prophet: Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, whichmeans God is with us." Matthew 1:20-23 (NLT)Yet, despite this miraculous sign, and also the miraculous life which followed, most of the world hasfailed to recognize the Creator among them. They Did Not Recognize HimThis may be the message of the Gospel of John. God came into the planet in human form, the veryworld He produced failed to recognize Him:"He came into the very world he created, but the globe didnt recognize him." steve 1:10 (NLT)
  • 8. Even those who lay claim to the actual wisdom of this world didnt recognize their own Creator:"But the rulers of this globe have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified ourglorious Lord." 1 Corinthians 2:8 (NLT)Even many self-proclaimed christian believers fail to recognize the true identification of Jesus ofNazareth. He is the Christ, god, the father of lords, and full of kings. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.Dont replicate the mistakes of those who refuse to acknowledge the glory associated with Jesus ofNazareth. He is more than a holy man, a prophet, and a teacher. Hes God among us.Jeremiah 29
