  • DETRAN – Traffic Dept. of São Paulo State  Detran SP has decentralized units in all cities of São Paulo State. There are 336 Regional offices (Ciretrans) and 309 Traffic Sections.  The Traffic Dept. of São Paulo State (Detran SP) is a component of the Brazilian National Traffic Management Program (SNT in Portuguese).  Detran SP is: – Responsible for the traffic regulation established by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB in Portuguese) and also by own regulations in São Paulo State. – Capable to promote traffic education and to plan, coordinate, execute, and provide vehicle documentation and related services. – The department responsible for assuring traffic statistics and manage the traffic tickets and their charges. – Aligned for achieving its scope of work with quality, efficiency and transparency, contributing for a better citizenship. 4
  • Portal Objectives  Simplify interaction through the internet for the citizens.  Offer public services more quickly with less geographical displacement.  Offer safe access to vehicle documents, driver’s licenses, and traffic tickets.  Supply traffic education - traffic instructors and examiners, specialization in emergency, buses, hazardous products, and school transportation. 5

  • Mobile Apps Evolution  Usage of “Push” technology forecasted to February/2014.  Services to be implemented: – Warning of Driver’s license expiration date; – Warning of expiration date of vehicle documentation; – Points in Driver´s license; – Traffic tickets by vehicle; – Reminder of scheduled services; – Educational campaigns. 14
  • Benefits for Citizens of Sao Paulo  Only one standard for public attendance.  The individual may ask the service directly, without interference of third parties.  Public solutions with less geographical displacement.  Convenient access to information, and documents over the internet.  State of São Paulo more active for the public – informing and educating more with less punishment. 15
  • Benefits for Detran  Cost reduction – Less operational costs in infrastructure – buildings, computers, cabling, network, desks, signaling; – Staff; – Less expenditure for trained personnel (HR).  Standardization of procedures in all São Paulo State.  Real-time data;  More disclosure of the São Paulo State administration process such as services, actions, and resources for the population;  More public interaction with the São Paulo State Government. 16

  • Platform Scalability  Detran’s Portal started with 30K users (eDetran) and 2 services First architecture had 2 servers.  Today we have 8 physical servers and 16 virtual servers offering 21 services attending 7 millions of users. 2011 18 2012 2013 2014
  • Web Content Management - Portal  With IBM tool Web Content Management Detran could delegate to PRODESP the infrastructure administration and content creation is still inside Detran. PRODESP creates Templates Build the ‘ archetypes’ used to create all the pages, content, components etc 19 Business users assemble Pages Populate Pages with (existing and new) content and components & select layout options Detran authors create and edit content Create content articles, using the elements defined by the content and page type
