  • 2. In the night of 31th October is the Halloween. Halloween means “All Hallows Eve” and it appeared about more than 2500 years ago, in the culture Celtic. They believed that in this night the ghosts leaved cemeterys to take possession of the bodies of the living people. So they put in their houses some objects that they thought throw away the ghosts like pumpkins, bones, skulls, etc. With the passing of the years, the people became to mask by some scared people like vampires, witchs, ghosts, … Jack O’Lantern
  • 3. About than 2500 years ago the Celts inhabit in the Iberian Peninsula, France, Italy, England and Ireland. They thought that the night of 31th October was a sort of passage of the life to the dead. So they believed that in that night the ghosts leaved the cemeterys to take possession of the bodies of the living people.   • 4. With the passing of the years, the celebration of the Halloween became funny. Appeared the costume of in this day the people mask of many things like vampires, witchs, ghosts, … Appeared too the “trick or treat” that is when the kids go to the houses of the other people and ask for sweets and if the people don’t give to them it, they make a trick.   • 7. Desesperate, Jack implored to take more only a glass of wine and the devil permited. Because, Jack didn’t have any money, he ask to the devil transform he in a coin.   • 8. The devil implored to get out but Jack only released he because he promised that he will live one more year. Happy with the decision of the devil, Jack changed his life: he take care of his wife and children; he gave money to the churchs, … Jack O’Lantern The Legend of Jack O’Lantern
  • 9. Passed, one year the devil get back. This time, Jack ask devil to get a apple to the tree. When the devil climb in the first branch, Jack drew a cross in the tree. Jack ask, this time, to the devil that he don’t bore him any more. Jack O’Lantern The Legend of Jack O’Lantern
  • 10. But passed one year, Jack died. He tried enter in the Heaven but his entrance was negated. Without choice, he went to the hell. The devil humbled didn’t permite that. With pity of he, the devil gave he a ember that Jack put in a turnip. He went out of the hell and was stroll in the streets.   • 11. The Halloween is a very festive and funny date because of the “trick or treat”, the masks, … The Jack O’Lantern is a special decoration of this date (it is a pumpkin that has in inside a lantern). The Halloween is called by this name because it means “All Hallows Eve”. Jack O’Lantern
