  • Business opportunities in ICT security in Europe Information security is one of this year’s hottest topics - companies and organizations want to ensure their data is secure and they are taking action to combat potential security threats. The EU’s target is to make Europe a secure and trustworthy ICT environment, for both company and personal data, and ICT security is one of the few sectors in Europe where growth is strong. Changes in the business environment have made companies seek new partners in ICT security – agreements are currently being made and the window of opportunity in this market is now open. Changes in data processing technology are creating new needs in Western European markets - good examples of this are ’big data’, the growing usage of mobile devices and the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend in workplaces. In addition to legal requirements regarding data security, the growing number of cyber-attacks has made companies willing to invest in securing the information in their data systems. The current discussion surrounding information security has resulted in many European players in both the public and private sectors seeking new partners in the ICT security sector. Finland’s reputation as a neutral country with world-class ICT security knowhow is a powerful advantage in this situation. Smaller companies are also viewed as interesting service providers because they are agile and innovative.
