Sports highlights received as an alert through the Sona Media Platform™ simply viewed on a number of mobile devices. However, Sona’s platform takes the video and presents the end user with a number of integrated options. In the sports video scenario, these options may include: Video sharing : Send the video from the Media Player to a friend via SMS, friend subscribes to the Media Player application at a reduced subscription. 14. The Attention of Mobile Video… In July of 2008, Wired Magazine stated that MultiMedia Intelligence thinks the mobile video market is going to be enormous – US $15 billion in revenue worldwide by 2012, up from a projected US $3.5 billion in 2008. The basic premise: video consumption on mobile devices will only increase as more people upgrade to 3G devices. The market research firm argues that mobile advertising will be superior to straight TV ads because it's a better communications platform. Source: Wired Magazine Lehman Brothers predicts that mobile TV alone will grow to a US $15 billion market by 2009. Source: Lehman Brothers Per Telephia, as of the third quarter 2006, nearly 8 million wireless subscribers were capturing videos with their mobile devices. Source: Telephia The wireless industry’s largest carriers have teamed with FEMA and the Association of Public Television Stations to trial a new technology that will be able to deliver emergency alerts to a limited number of subscribers over existing messaging systems. - Source: CTIA Wireless Sona Mobile Confidential 2009
  15. Promotional & Mobile Advertising: Gartner Says Worldwide Mobile Advertising Revenue to Surpass US $2.7 Billion in 2008. “ Innovative developments, such as minimizing the number of keystrokes required to access information, using the phone’s camera to improve the overall user experience and tying content or shopping location relevancy to advertisements will move the market forward. To encourage users to accept advertisements, advertisers must improve the way search results are managed on the handset so that the experience is painless and rewarding to end users.” - Tole Hart, Research Director at Gartner. Mobile advertising revenues are expected to grow tenfold over the next five years, with various estimates ranging from US $10 billion to US $15 billion for 2011.
